it was interesting to notice Lily won both 1st places for cadet/junior
teams.
Ariel's game is a close-table fast attack, she needs more speed and
good timing to improve, it is not easy, unless she could master some
great serves, but obviously her serves are so so.
Lily's game is a little more far away from table, she is a looper, so
more error spaces for timing and angles, less depending on her serves
or serve returns. But as a looper, she needs more power, ie she needs
to grow stronger, and do more physical trainings.
about why there are no Chinese great clubs like ICC at bay area?
Actually there are more Chinese small clubs, we need to have a lead
who had played some high level table tennis before, like competed in
at least province level, or retired USATT national team player, who
also lived in USA for many years to speak good English.
The #1 factor is about passion. Dennis Davis used to be the lead at
bay area TT, but after he got families, his passion died.
One good combination is 2 leaders together, one is a great coach, an
extra-player like 2700 level, plus one founder like Topspin
founder, the Vietnamese who used to get a lot of stock option from
his working at eBay. | c****1

Stefen feth, Li Nan, Zhang Li and Li Zhenshi) is based on topspin,
so there is a huge competition between ICC and Topspin.
Maybe that is one of the reason ICC Raju did so much advertisements
at the nationals, they want to compete with Topspin for the
national team training camp club.
We will see the result soon, but we, as bay area TT players, are
glad to see the center of TT would move to bay area from CO.
The current national women's team coach, from Romania, is living at
CO, he has a full-time job at USATT organization, that is the only
full-time job. His wife used to coach the girl junior or cadet teams.
In case it happens, they have to move to bay area too, or give the
job to Zhang Li/Li Zhenshi. | c****1
发帖数: 5654 | 3 Both ICC and Topspin moved once, right now, Topspin has more spaces,
but ICC is promising they will move to a bigger place.
All the coaches at ICC can't be national team coaches, even not for
junior/cadet, but they play the good players.
Actually Lily improved fast under Stefen/Li Nan.
The last time i played both girls were back to 2007, i lost to
2200+ Ariel but beat 1900+ Lily with Li Nan as her coach.
They used to 300+ apart, but now within 50 ratings apart.
Most likely after Ariel/Lily improve to 2500s, they might switch to
Stefen team again, since that gang of 4 are a lot better coaches
than ICC coach team. | M**4

i competed there for team league, which was the only chance i played
with Lily, it used to be 2 tables only, opened by Natalie's dad...
Natalie is a very promising kid, does anyone know why she quit the
game?

i would take a guess that her wrist is too tight, it is hard for her
to create great spin w/o going long...

在Ariel和Lily后面追，挺辛苦的

Natalie is a promising girl too, she could play as USA's Wang, Yuegu
or HK's Jiang huajun. Very talented.
When she played in 1700s, Ariel was 2200s, now they play within 100..
