if you don't have barefoot running experience, start VERY slow and easy.
Even a 1-mile jog may prove to be
too much, initially. Even just walking in them will be a good exercise. Don'
t feel too good if there is no
soreness after the run -- your calf may start to feel sore only 48 hours
later.

I have been running in them for two weeks now, in small mileages. I think I
got over the initial soreness, but I don't feel like I have the right gait
or posture.

It takes a while to adjust the form as well. How you can run also depends on
your relative muscle strength.
Generally you gotta slow down a little bit in five fingers/barefoot, and a
high cadence would help reduce the
stress on the foot. You want to land on your little toe and roll to the big
toe and the entire forefoot.

WHXHM, can you share how long you have been running with forefoot landing,
and how long can you run with it?
I am asking because I tried to run with forefoot landing with regular shoe
or water shoe for about 2 weeks, I can run 4-6 miles with forefoot landing
in very slow pace, and the calf felt sore for 3 days.

I first started doing forefoot in and only in five fingers in August of 2009
. It was a desperate measure after
battling a knee injury (inflammation of quadricep tendon) for weeks. At the
time I did a little bit of running
in five fingers, no more than 5 miles, to adjust my running form. When I put
my regular running shoes back
on, I go back to heel strike.
I made a real attempt to switch to forefoot strike in November of 2009,
because my shin splints got really
bad after bay state marathon. At

great experience on forefoot strike and barefoot running.
From my experience, although i thought i have been doing midfoot strikes,
but all my shoes had significantly worn at the outside of the heels. I guess
I am still a heel-striker. From what you said, I now realize that the
transition will be long and painful.:)
