At about 2 miles, a girl caught up with me. This isn't happening, I thought.
I was running up a bridge with a head wind, and it was difficult. So I took
it easy for a few steps and tuck myself behind the girl. I knew I had a
better kick than her (male vs female really isn't fair), and I only need to
stay with her till the last quarter mile - which is what I did. I started
pulling away with about 0.3 mile to go. It was quite thrilling. Though I
didn't PR, I had no intervals in the last two months, and felt stronger
today than I expected. I paid $19 to register for the race, and won a $25
gift certificate and a beer glass, so it was a good deal. |

was so tiny because it's on a weekday, and apparently the original sponsor
decided not to fund the race at some point, and the race director was nice
enough to still do it. the race on this 5K course is held 6 times a year.
Sometimes the winner would run 16 minutes. If I can get to the mid 17 range, then I'd be able to win a
Halloween race or something like that.
