I've been asked why I decided to run for this Assembly seat. A lot of
people had asked me to run for 6 months or more, but I wasn't convinced that
I wanted to run.
I'm just finishing my 8th year on the Saratoga City Council, two as mayor,
and I'm very proud of my public service. I helped a lot of people of many
different backgrounds and national origin and that is truly what I love to
do.
Shortly before the filing deadline, I had a conversation with several
leaders in the Republican Party, our state legislature and a couple of
trusted advisors, and we discussed a lot of things. When we discussed the
problems of our state and the realities of the democratic part supermajority
in both the State Senate & Assembly, it became clear to me that we need I
elect an assembly representative that can solve problems.
Looking at the other candidates, I knew that I was the only likely candidate
with both the business and life experience and the morales, ethics and
family values to be able to stand up to the wrongs that have been done (
unethical and illegal acts of current legislators). I also realized that my
ability to bring people together to actually solve problems is a critical
skill that is lacking in Sacramento.
I thought about what the other candidates would do if elected - follow their
democratic leaders to further divide, bankrupt and enable discrimination -
and I knew that I had to run.
So I bring to you, the people of district 28, not a politician mentality (
the 2 democrat candidates have each already had multiple campaign committees
to run for higher office), but that of a problem solver who works with
people to get things done.
You won't see me bragging about my accomplishments, because that's not what
I do. I get results. And I think that most Americans (and yes, we are all
Americans) want actual results.
I want to create opportunities for all people to succeed and I want
government to be accountable. I am 100% accountable for my actions and
votes.
I have also made mistakes. I do not grandstand and I do not put down others
for their personal choices. We live in a free country, where our rights,
liberty and freedoms are paramount. I will stand for those rights, and the
people of our nation, against any threat anytime.
And I am completely color blind - I see humans around me and I am blessed to
have been able to share in so many different cultures. Those who try to
make an election about race, national origin or voting as a bloc are limited
in their thinking to one-party rule. America is a land of independence and
I will always fight for the RIGHT thing, but I will wage my fight in a way
to gather support, not to anger people or showboat.
If you think that the leaders of our state should have business and life
experience, extremely deep values, high ethics & morals and a proven record
of actually solving problems in order to tackle the problems of our state,
then I ask or your vote on June 3. | C*****9
