呢?
是不是生统的就业面比较窄? | x***x 发帖数: 3401 | 2 i would go for statistics.
If you are applying for a biostatistic job, you only need to emphasize your
training in areas like survival analysis, clinical trial etc. A MS in
statistics with these trainings is equivalent to a biostats. | s*******r 发帖数: 769 | 3 this is what I am thinking too.

For the degree, the word "bio-" is not doing you any good. | m*******s 发帖数: 469 | 5 That's bullshit!
Do you think those biostat programs at Harvard, UWashington, UNC, UMich
etc. should get rid of "bio" from their names as well? Do you realize in
these schools biostat programs are much better than stat programs?
I can tell you that many biostat programs are much more theoretical than
those so-called stat programs. Please don't assume stat is superior to
biostat, only because you don't own a biostatistician job.

I didn't mean biostat is inferior/easier than stat. But for the degree,
biostat sounds narrower outside pharma, health care and biotech.
People with stat degree can always look for biostatistician job, without any
problems, but the reverse may not always be true. In some industries, the
prefix "bio-" may cause some interviewers think lack of fit.

| c******r 发帖数: 300 | 7 Believe it or not, people outside stats don't know this much, so if you want
to find a stat-related job in an indurstry other than pharm, stat
definitely has some advantages. Sometimes, they don't even know which stat
program is better, so the school's overall reputation matters more. On the
otherhand, if you want to find a job in pharm, it does not seem to make a
difference whether you own degree in stat or a biostat.
As to whethether the biostat dept is more theoretical than the stat or not,

if STAT students take several biostat courses. Of course in MS level.
