Shares of Yahoo! (YHOO) are up 49 cents, or 3.4%, at $14.74, having sharply
added to gains starting just after 3:30 pm, Eastern, as AllThingsD’s Kara
Swisher reports the company is receiving bids for all or part of the company
from multiple interested parties “in the last several days,” citing
multiple anonymous sources.
Swisher says founder Jerry Yang and chairman Roy Bostock are said to be “
receptive” to the interest and have spoken with some of the bidders. Those
bidders may include Netscape founder and venture capitalist Marc Andreessen
as well as former News Corp. (NWS) executive Peter Chernin and his partners
at Providence Equity Partners. |
