To my understanding, you should be reaching the top of the hop when you can
judge where the ball is going. That way, you could prepare to change
direction. For some players who does not disguise his intention well, you
might be able to tell the direction even before he hits the ball. Some
players might be able to disguise well. Against different players, you might
have to hop at different time.
Anticipation includes different things at different stages. Right after your

depends你打过去的球的角度的，斜线/直线，底线/网前都是不同的）。
如果对手到不了位，回球质量多半较差，就可以上网finish之。

run to the middle of the expected coverage. (2) before the opponent hits,
stop and do one hop or split step. (3) run in the direction of the actual
ball. Adding that hop always throws my timing off right now.
