China Demands ABC ‘Face Mistakes’ for Jimmy Kimmel Comments
China’s Foreign Ministry demanded ABC “face its mistakes” following
protests against TV host Jimmy Kimmel over a satirical skit in which a child
suggested the U.S. “kill everyone in China” to address its debt problem.

China’s Foreign Ministry on Monday demanded U.S. broadcaster ABC “face its
mistakes head on” following a weekend of protests against late-night
television host Jimmy Kimmel over a satirical skit in which a child
suggested the U.S. “kill everyone in China” to address its debt problem.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang was asked by state-run CCTV to respond
to the controversy during a daily news briefing on Monday.
“ABC should face its mistake head on, and respond with a sincere attitude
to the reasonable demands by Chinese in America, and prevent a similar
incident from occurring again,” he said.
ABC issued an apology on Friday, in which the network described the segment
as an “egregious mistake.”
“The simple fact is, the segment should never have been broadcast,” read
the ABC statement. ABC is owned by Walt Disney Co.
The controversial edition of “Kid’s Table” – a satirical skit in which
Mr. Kimmel asks children to debate contemporary political issues — aired
Oct. 16. In the segment, the comedian asks a group of children what the U.S.
should do to solve its debt problem with China.
“Kill everyone in China? OK, that’s an interesting idea,” Mr. Kimmel
responded to a suggestion from one child.
“Should we allow the Chinese to live?” Mr. Kimmel went on to ask the
children later in the segment.
Protests calling for Mr. Kimmel to resign or be fired have been heavily
covered in the Chinese state media. The Associated Press reported that more
than 1,000 people picketed outside ABC’s Burbank, Calif., headquarters on
Saturday.
CCTV has broadcast video footage of him sparring with Chinese journalists.
In one clip, Mr. Kimmel was asked how he would respond to a group of Chinese
Americans the reporter said is raising money to sue him.
“Well in America we have the freedom of the press. If they want to waste
their money suing me—I’d recommend they don’t do that—but that’s their
choice,” CCTV broadcast Mr. Kimmel as saying.
A representative for ABC didn’t respond to a request for a comment.

“美国广播公司应正视自身错误，以真诚的态度回应旅美华侨华人的正当要求，并避免
再次发生类似事件。”
所以说我们（旅美华侨华人）是自发的抗议，为的是我们自己；而中国外交部是支持我
们这些旅美华侨华人的“正当要求”。 外交部没有义务替我们发声，但是他们有权力
发表他们自己的看法。

其实ABC根本不够格，外交部没有必要对它一个私人媒体公司发表评论。外交部能支持
海外华人就可以了。

国债.中国政府才是最大的债主.把300万美国华人杀光也解决不了美债问题.
海外华人的游行示威即是保障自己的安全,又是维护祖国的利益;反而外交部的发言说的
好像和自己没有关系似的.
外交部要想帮忙就应该给美国国务院抗议ABC节目中的种族仇视倾向.这种不痛不痒的表
