HARRIS COUNTY, Texas—A couple was discovered dead inside their garage in
west Harris County Wednesday evening, and detectives say they were murdered.
Neighbors said the victims just moved in to the normally quiet subdivision
on La Mancha Drive three weeks ago.
Homicide investigators said they found at least two bullet holes and two
shattered windows in their SUV, which had been parked nearby in the garage.
The lead detective in the case said he has not tracked down a murder weapon
and could not confirm whether a gun was the actual cause of death.
Authorities on Thursday said they are waiting on the results of an autopsy
to learn exactly how the pair died. The bodies were too badly decomposed so
the cause of death wasn't obvious.
When deputies with the Harris County Sheriff's Office arrived, they said
there were no signs of forced entry and it did not appear to be a murder-
suicide. They later obtained a search warrant to look over the rest of the
home, which is unattached from the garage.
Investigators believe the bodies had been in the garage for several days.
One neighbor said her sister heard something odd last Friday.
"She heard a big noise and she wasn't sure what it could've been," said
Bonnie Ezzell. "A pop of some kind… could have sounded like a car
backfiring, could have been a gunshot, could have been fireworks."
The couple was found Wednesday evening by a family friend who had stopped by

last Thursday.
