inflation.
Market competition in the health care business drive up the costs. We had
only one drug called sugar pill for cancer patients 40 yrs ago. Now we have
100. Market competition does do an excellent job spitting out new drugs.
Now you have 30 drugs to stuff a terminally ill.
Back to my point, I dont want to be forced to pay 1 million to die with
smaller tumor but without living longer. This is what is happen

If you have to spend into bankruptcy to cure a disease then it means the
treatment is too expensive to be effective so it'd better be replaced by
sth else more economical. Government's role should thus be encouraging a
better alternative rather than dropping a price control or forcing one
group of people to pay the bill of the another.
Price control is a dumbass solution. If you put a cap on a product, you
end up with either shortage or a black market that can charge a fair
price on the product
