Use your leverage.
The only way you're going to make the deal you want is if you're coming from
a position of strength and can convince the other side that you have
something they need.
Fight back.
Trump says that he prefers to be cooperative and positive, but that
sometimes it's necessary to be confrontational when the other side is
treating him unfairly or trying to take advantage of him.
The risk is that you'll make a bad situation worse, and I certainly don't
recommend this approach to everyone. But my experience is that if you're
fighting for something you believe in — even if it means alienating some
people along the way — things usually work out for the best in the end.
Deliver the goods.
You can't con people, at least not for long. You can create excitement, you
can do wonderful promotion and get all kinds of press, and you can throw in
a little hyperbole. But if you can't deliver the goods, people will
eventually catch on. |
