The majority of the Chinese immigrants, belong to what you guys call the "
lobster party". They are "undocumented", and "dependent on wellfare".
Even AA/SCA5 may work for that group, I know several families who will be
perfectly content if their kids can go to a decent public or private college
, as long as it is affordable.
In other words, they care less about ranking and prestige, more about
financial support. After all, it's relatively easy to claim hardship and
then get financial aids, if your family is "undocumented" and "dependent on
wellfare".
That's I keep saying be as nice as possible among the new immigrants, and
forget those social issues, as we need everyone among the new immigrants to
form new strength-bases, in order to gradually shift the agenda and the
priority.
That's what's happening in California. New immigrants from India can be a
strong potential ally in this aspect.
