Imagine two high school students. They have the same performance, and apply
for the same university. One gets admission, one doesn’t. The reason: one
has a skin color of “A”, the other has a skin color of “B”. Is that fair
? How to explain to them? Do they have the equal opportunity?
We all understand that education needs to be improved for everybody, for
poor or rich, but the goal of education is to achieve excellence. To benefit
any people, the best way is to encourage them to achieve excellence, not
just grab directly from other people. This is not fair to everybody.
When anybody gets admissions, offers, it should be because “you are
excellent”, it should be something they can be proud of, not “because you
belong to a certain racial group”! |
