Faculty Positions (tenure stream and non-tenure stream) for 2015
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the Universit
y of Pittsburgh, http://www.engineering.pitt.edu/electrical anticipates in
terviewing candidates for two faculty positions. One will be a tenure-stream
(TS) position and the other a non-tenure-stream (NTS) position each at th
e assistant or associate level. The anticipated start date is September 2015
.
For the TS position, we seek candidates with expertise in one of the followi
ng areas: embedded computing systems, cyber-security, big data, or an interd
isciplinary area of circuit design and/or modeling that bridges novel nano-s
cale devices with logic/memory or analog ICs. The candidate should be able t
o apply her/his technical discipline to Swanson School priorities of Manufac
turing, or Energy, or Nanotechnology, or Biotechnology. Successful candidate
s must have the ability to establish a high impact research program and must
be committed to high quality teaching for a diverse student body at both th
e undergraduate and graduate levels.
For the NTS position, we seek a person whose primary responsibility will be
teaching. This faculty member will ideally teach courses in both the electri
cal and computer engineering undergraduate programs. A person with a strong
laboratory/electronics background is sought such that this person will be ab
le to 搒pearheadthe future development and teaching in our numerous labora
tory courses in circuits and measurements, electronics, digital systems, sig
nal processing, embedded systems, or software engineering.
ECE currently has 25 full time faculty members with approximately 400 underg
raduate and 170 graduate students. The department offers BS, MS, and PhD deg
rees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering (latter in partnersh
ip with Computer Science Dept.). ECE is strongly committed to a diverse acad
emic environment and places high priority on attracting female and minority
candidates.
