就注册去上课了，发现价格已经改了，是$19，

现在已经不能只是开着电脑耗时间了，我试着开机，但出去了3-4个小时，回来就要求
重新log in了。而且也不能直接参加final exam，必须答对各章的所有试题才能到达
final exam，而且各章的题目之后还有一题“security question”，就是问关于前面
学习材料中的图片、录像中的内容，所以还不得不点击看看，总共也需要不少时间。不
过有个节约时间的方法，就是先到问题的一页，看完问题再点击“previous”回到前一
页寻找答案，利用IE的“编辑”菜单下“查找（在当前页）”的功能可以快速定位。如
果中途log off再回来log in，得一页页翻过之前做过的章节，不过不需要重新做题就
是。到达上次退出地方，就自动加载之前这一章的内容。

Indeed, there are many Ph.D. programs that can be closed. The first one on
my list to close would be the Religion program in Columbia university. Why

因为以前phd和postdoc期间的guest lectures都反应不错，postdoc期间独立上的一门
课虽然只有八个学生，但是反应也很好。我平时的学术报告反应一般也是很好的，还得
过奖，所以我一直自信满满。但是看到上学期的course evaluation真的严重打击了我
的自信心，平均分在系平均分和校平均分以下，有些学生的negative reviews都有一些
人身攻击了。但是有一个学生的评语让我很感动，他/她写了很长的一段，开始写了对

很多人都是才来2年左右的，当年被很多空头许诺骗来放弃很多很好的offer (我认识一

agreement里面的。
最近HR在搞全公司skill assessment, 其实就是预示这近期要有大幅裁员。
这种Private的公司最好别来，CEO一人专断，公司业绩完全不公开。每每公司大会也都
是报喜不报忧，没人知道公司到底在发生什么。
公司技术落后，这种工作经历写在简历上完全不是亮点而是污点。（很多NY和加州的

We have learned a lot from experience about how to handle
some of the ways we fool ourselves. One example: Millikan
measured the charge on an electron by an experiment with
falling oil drops, and got an answer which we now know not
to be quite right. It's a little bit off, because he had the incorrect
value for the viscosity of air. It's interesting to look at the history
of measurements of the charge of the electron, after Millikan.

于去与自己水平相当的大学，选择去比自己水平高很多的藤校是很不明智的。所以AA造
成对黑青年“毁人>诲人”。
如斯成立，则亚裔家长推自个的娃也须小心。如家长推了10年娃也没学会自推，那靠补
习班、凑活动经验上了藤校也是去给牛娃当分母做尾巴去了，也许不如去一州校帮助大
。学费省下来还可以投资给娃当个天使基金啥的。

什么是CVS百分胖？
指他家发的**% off whole purchase的店家胖，excludes sale & promotional items
，和他家 ** off certain amount胖胖的feature不同。现在的百分胖都是一次性使用。
怎么才能得到 百分胖？
YMMV，CVS每周邮件，或者CVS网上帐户的extrasavings里，或者小红机上扫卡，再有买
完东西出的小票上都有可能收到。通过上面的方式收到的胖胖都跟卡。最后就是新卡
sign up，以前给的是4 off 20, 现在正在向20% off 过渡。
什么样的货品 才能用百分胖？
基本上系统里flag为on sale/clearance的都不能用，偶有例外。和货品是不是在每周
广告纸上，在店里底下有没有贴红标/黄标 , 是不是原价都不是百分百相关，原价的货
