太清楚这是个什么称号就去google了一下，发现全中国只有10几个Oracle ACE。另佩服
的是这哥们本科是日语，毕业前对电脑的了解主要限于游戏（特别是Diablo,hehe)，这
毕业10年边干边自学（没有读advanced degree)竟然成为IT专家了。 |

Engineering）作urban planning and urban design。去年3月被lay off，转读会计，

如果工资理想的话，完全可以当作永久职业来做。
不知道你为什么认为这个吃力不讨好？我认识的core facility director
都活得很爽的样子。
工资倒是不特别高，大概是6万到8万之间，但是比起作千老来好的多了，
跟大部分公司的scientist工资都差不多了。而且上班时间是固定的，
只有别人求你的份，没有你求别人的份。偶尔加个班那就是给对方的极大
面子了。比方说我们的质谱的director,我们有时候特别着急的时候，
会求他给我们对某个样品加急，我们都是感恩不尽，因为我们心里明白
他没有任何为任何人加班的义务 |

那种不能独立做实验的人还是要向一个发考题负责的，那个发考题才是真正的director
,
那种可以自己独立做实验的人自己就是真的director, 这种属于可进可退的那种位置，
如果非常厉害的人可以自己搞来资金自己办一个相关的实验室，不厉害的人就混吃等死。
我的建议是看你自己有多少事业野心吧，如果没有什么野心的话这种位置还是很不错的
（在确定资金来源比较稳定的前提下），而且将来要去企业也会比普通博士后容易一些。

前几天，我咨询了我们学校的MLS Program Director，
他说我们州，有5所大学开设Medical Laboratory Science Program
每年有200名以上的正规本科毕业生，找工作相当困难。
现在还有4所大学开设Hematology, Microbiology, blood banking, clinical
Chemistry12月证书半，一共16个，学费13000-15000/年，现在连200名以上的正规本科
毕业生找工作很难，别说16个证书班，
他建议我们慎重选择证书班。
我们社区大学开设的Dental Hygine班，2年州内学费9000， 25名毕业生，只有4人找到
工作，其余还是失业。

也不能放东西。
最近经常看到director秘书经常偷偷摸摸的翻我们办公室的抽屉。如果本人刚好在场，
是不敢翻的；但人不在的，基本都翻一遍。
Director是不是有这个权力这么搞？办公室不能放东西能作为这个的理由？感觉很侵犯
隐私，也觉得非常不爽？

不可,而且MD的临床经验,比PhD的科研经验,更受欢迎.
所以,位子不多是一个因素,有兴趣的MD很多也是要考虑.
除了biochemistry方向,还有其他方向,但都是同一个问题,粥少僧多,你又来晚了----竞争不比考baord小,有兴趣雇director的老板不多,因为太贵了. |

microbiology lab later. Many fellowships want an PhD in microbiology instead
of an MD.
Given that, the job itself is not easy. You have to master all the lab
technologies, i.e. you need to know how to do when a senior lab technician
cannot handle the situation. You have to communicate well with infectious
disease doctors, which could be challenging for a PhD. It is a director

我在国内学医学检验，也在医院工作过，国内上的学校和工作的医院还好，来美国纯粹
是为了另一半。所以，还好，受过一定的医学培训，有一点工作经验，另外自己挺喜欢
这个行业。原来在国内做学生的时候就梦想着将来有一天能handle检验科，当然现在人
在美国这个目标不现实，但是，如果能最终做到lab director，我也心满意足了。如果
不是因为这个想法，当初也不会决定念phd，一直在实验室做technician就行了。你说
的关于一个director需要的能力，我会尽力弥补，再次感谢！

其实这是一个很好的point，MLS的的工作不是这么难找，但是也不是很好找。整体来说
CLS/MLS的收入不高，非PhD的话没任何前途，工作稳定性比较高但是也不会比码农好。
我今天有时间就来说说我对这行的了解吧。
首先是MLS找工作。有很多相关的technician工作都可以是MLS，最近这几年分子相关的
特别好找工作，其他的基本都不太好找。原因是太多的相关检测被分子检测代替了。比
如microbiology, cytology都有点这个味道。CDC最近想把很多cytology的筛查都用分
子检测替代，可想而知这个对cytologist很不友好。microbiology也是一样的，MS和
NGS对病原菌的检测敏感度上来以后，很多实验室都开始用分子检测替代培养。毕竟打
个质谱几个小时出结果，培养一个菌需要几天。另外一个原因是现在大量的分子检测还
