The older houses were built without a family room. You know, people really
sit down at the dining table, all the silverware and candles stuff. Maybe
some music, but definitely no TV allowed. Such life styles don't allow a
family room.
Family room become popular only when people get more casual at home :) I
think the transition started in 70's, by the end of last century, it's
widely accepted. |

刚刚才开始和老婆看房子。现在看上了两套，让人比较纠结。一个是小区环境非常好的
Townhouse，
建于1979年，但是维护的很好，感觉和小区里84年的房子差不多，而且view很好。另外
是一个建于
1976年的Single Family，lot超大（15000尺），但是房子比较旧。两个价格和房子大
小非常接
近，和附近邻居相比，价格都只是70%左右，而且都是bank owner。
Townhouse有可能只要3%的首付，而Single Family不知道现在能否有可能10%？Single
Family的话肯定需要慢慢内部装修。
不知道版上各位如何看？有可能10%首付吗？ |

大农村，2娃，家庭收入税前9万，想在一新小区买房，选择有两种，刚建起来的duplex
式的新房，大概1850 sq ft，三卧室，大概16万；或者建房，两层楼，2100 sq ft, 四
卧室， 21万。 在这个小区duplex式的房子和single family房子是分开的，duplex区
都是老人downsize来住的，没有一户住了有娃的家庭; single family区，房子也不大
，前后院也很小，并且房价要高出不少；
想住duplex因为便宜，价格很好，房型什么的都不错，但是周围全是老头老太住，留在
中西部，房价本来就不高，住一个duplex觉得不甘心；
建singlefamily房子，价钱多不少，面积到没多多少，并且不知道几年之内有没有什么
变化，人心里揣揣的， 多投入这么多钱，房子卖得时候损失也大阿，

family room是自家人和熟悉亲近的亲戚朋友活动的地方，比较轻松非正式，通常靠近
后院，和厨房毗邻，走到family room整个一楼的各个房间基本就看见了。这就是老美
的传统风格，对老中来说没啥必要，国内房子谁家分living room family room？老美

最近再给孩子找family care，
楼下正好有一家新开的，去看了看，里面孩子看上去还挺开心的，老师看上去还挺能干的
但是有个问题，现在已经有3个孩子了，据说还有一个要来
如果加上我们的，就有5个孩子了，这5个孩子 都在1岁左右，
正负2个月差。里面常驻的就一个老师，另外一个据说只有下午来
，而且还有个她自己的刚刚出生的小
baby，我觉得师生比是太低了，但是刚刚开始找，没有看过别的地方，请问，一般来说
，family care，对于2岁以下组
别，师生比在多少？

several keys here:
1. Try to find a family care doesn't have many kids. The one I sent my son
to only has 3 full time (including my son) and 1 part time kids. Less kids
means less chance for your baby to get sick.
2. Try not to start sending your kid from winter time. I started sending my
son to the family care in late March. He was fine until late October (only

天去 Daycare. 回想过去一年半在这个family daycare的种种好处,还真有点舍不得.宝
宝一日三餐,冷暖作息都被照顾的好好的. 以后去preschool 自己要要辛苦很多,每天自
己带饭+snack,老美老师估计也不知道给宝宝多喝水,穿衣服, 想着怕怕.不过宝宝长大
了,总要上学去. 希望宝宝在新学校好好学习,天天向上.

尾巴，要么要揪猫胡子，我家猫倒是很乖，看见势头不对就跑了，我们也盯得很紧，看
见势头不对就拉开了；如果在family care娃这么干的话，我觉得很难保证宝宝不玩过
火惹恼猫。
我家娃现在去的family care有狗，还是黑背，我第一天送去的时候才发现，开始去看
过都没注意到有狗，因为没人帮我们带孩子，找一个好的family care也不容易（现在
这个阿姨带得看着还不错，娃每天回家都要说好久阿姨的名字）。狗每天都是关起来的
，据说有两道门关着，然后据说狗上过一年的学接受training，但是我们还是打算等天
气暖和了马上送娃去daycare，觉得还是不安全。 |

这么看来，
我觉得family care更容易不是更容易生病吗？
因为还近距离接触上学的大孩子
而daycare至少是分年龄的。
不知道为什么有些人觉得FAMILY CARE少生病

ratio, distance, etc are all good. My son's been staying home with the nanny

1. Family care适合小朋友，他们的license规定两岁以下只能最多4个，1:4老师孩子
，toddler 可以8个还是10个记不太清楚，一个老师看。我们宝宝去family care因为老
师有比较关注小小朋友，当然他们也需要更多的时间喂奶，换尿布，睡觉，抱着。
2. 如果我孩子大点，两岁半到三岁，我就打算把她送到daycare去。因为大型的
daycare设施齐备，老师会组织孩子学一些东西。这些都是小作坊不能提供的，因为他
们还要看小小朋友。
3. 语言上我没有担心，我去考察的时候发现孩子们在family care里跟老师说中文，互
相说英文。而且孩子很快会catch up的。 |

女主人是family care的owner，就她一个人负责看孩子，现在大约有6，7个full time
的孩子，一个10个月的女宝，其他全是2岁左右的男宝，好像还有一两个part time的大
孩子，4，5岁的，下午来一下的那种，她说她的执照允许她看12个孩子，真是好奇啊，
一个人真的能看过来这么多个孩子吗？为什么daycare阿姨看得那么少呢？
她说她定期和daycare一起带孩子们去gym玩，每天带孩子们在她家后院里玩滑梯等，还
在前院（是个dead end）玩推车，脚踏车等，最近还自己带孩子们去儿童博物馆玩耍，
汗，一个人带7，8个小鬼，感觉很牛啊
孩子们玩耍活动的房间在一楼，很小很小（有我家playroom一半大吧，真的很小），她
说孩子们从来都是统一活动，玩玩具，学习，吃饭，换尿布等等，中午呢，把所有的孩
子弄到二楼去睡午觉，孩子们分放在几个卧室里，这样互不干扰，等所有孩子醒来之后
一起下来
我特意问了她，这样不同年龄的孩子一起玩耍没有安全隐患吗，她高 |

我和老公都很犹豫，想来问问大家建议。
先说family care: 在这两个月等的时候，我们送了宝宝去一家family care,是一个中
国人开的，里面有5-6个小孩子，年纪也都差不多，宝宝现在已经比较适应这里了，但
不是非常喜欢的那种，每天送的时候还会墨迹一会儿，不想和妈妈再见。这个中国老太
太（其实也不老，60多岁的样子）人很不错，爱说话，好沟通，很会做饭，宝宝在这里
吃得不错，而且这里因为人少，所以我觉得传染病毒的机会小一些。至少这两个月宝宝
没有生过病。在这里宝宝中文英文都有接触，刚刚开始学说话。不好的地方是，老太太
精力有限，只是让孩子们自己玩，没能组织活动，教一些知识，所以对宝宝精神上和智
力上的发展没有太大帮助。
再说daycare: 是一家Bright Horizon连锁，好处是离公司近，接送非常方便。比较注
重孩子的心智发展，每天安排有很多小孩子的活动，场地很大，老师们看上去也不错，
在yelp上有三个人评价，都是5星。说实话非常动心，但是不好的地方：价格比family

Urgent, need to make the decision this afternoon. We found a good bilingual
family care as well as a goo bilingual formal preschool. Student teacher
ratio, distance, etc are all good. My son's been staying home with the nanny
, 22 mo now. Which one would be a better fit? If family care, when he's
about 3 we'll send him to preschool anyway, but I guess family care less
chance to get sick??

标 题: ATT family plan必须是同一个市场的号？

今天到ATT店里加条线，被告知ATT family plan必须是同一个市场的号，比如北加是一
个市场，南加是另一个。要么新线用以前南加的区号，要么旧线用现在北加的号，南加
的号和北加都不能同在一个family plan里。
这太荒诞了吧？那要是夫妻两个都不想换原来的旧号，就不能都在一个计划里？ |
