2001年刚来的时候，对FOOTBALL很不感冒。说起来，我们中国人是SOCCER的球迷。不过
，呆在这个地方，最不感冒的人也会耳濡目染，稍微了解一些关于FOOTBALL的东西。先

首先，两者举行的时间不同。football是在寒假，重要的比赛是
在圣诞节和新年前后。也就是大多美国人的假期；basketball是
在春天(号称三月的疯狂)，基本在春假之前。
第二，两者的体力消耗不同。football基本上一周只能比赛一场；
而basketball隔天就可以打一场。
第三，比赛的环境不同。football在室外(少数在室内)，场地大，
观众多；basketball在室内，场地小观众少。
这就决定两者的比赛形式不一样。对football来说，首先观众群
比较大，有学生也有校友，还有学校当地居民。重大的比赛要安
排在这些人的假期，也就是只能在圣诞新年前后。因为一支队的
相邻两场比赛通常相隔一星期，所以这样的比赛也只能有一场。
而basketball面向的是学生，他们的安排比较灵活。篮球一个周
末可以打两场，分到三个周末也就有六场。
再有，圣诞新年也是度假时间。因此观众主要是吸引去度假的人
群。不是很狂热的球迷也愿意顺便看一场football比赛。度假的
