现在、目前、就在今天，我们人类正被困在地球这个宇宙中的lifeboat上 - - - 只有
很少一点的资源、很有限的技术；大概1/4人工作就能完全加工这些资源来供给整体人

于是现代经济里衍生出了各种“泡沫”来安排这些“过剩”人口：可口可乐、歌手、影
星、房地产、投资家、导游、小说家、律师、教师、妓女、妓男。。。也就是说，现代
经济里有3/4永远是“泡沫”：破了泡沫、以及还没破的泡沫。经济衰退、经济危机是
现代经济(也就是泡沫经济、过剩经济)的本质特点！
这3/4的“过剩”人口的生存是必要的：1)如果任由这3/4的人口死亡，那么剩下的1/4
人口里的3/4又变成了新的过剩人口。。。循环下去，经济体乃至人类社会就崩溃了。2
)这3/4人口的繁衍，提供了必要的redundancy - - - 例如必须生养3个丑女才能选出一
个美女来当影星；如果一共就只有一个女孩，只能捡到盘子里就算菜，那这个电影就太

妙的受冲击状态。
一、
这部电影其实不能让人信上帝 - - 信仰哪里那么容易获得？但是可以看作一个心理测
试：如果你信神或者有潜力信神，那么你就会信第一个故事；如果你信仰自然法则，那
么你就会信第二个故事。
我惊讶地发现我的一个朋友看了电影以后非常“自然”地相信第一个故事，认为第二个
故事只是个显示人心不古的衍生物。我的这个朋友并不是老好人，而是一个很精明冷静
的人 - - 如果他在lifeboat上，我丝毫不奇怪他会最终吃人肉并且感谢上帝送来食物(
这个“感谢上帝”跟我说“谢天谢地、运气不错”的含义一样)。
回想一下，其实我也差不多：有人坚持认为人型岛代表Pi吃了他的母亲(这其实是第三
个故事)，而我坚持相信第二个故事本身，认为绝对不“必要”衍生出其他的、第二个
故事之外的枝节。这个思路其实和我的朋友相信第一个故事是一样的。
人必然有信仰，哪怕无神论者也有某种信仰(例如信仰自然法则)。因为人的理性无法全

泰坦尼克上的确有8个来自香港的华人水手，不过不是泰坦尼克的水手，
而是Donaldson Line的水手。8人在英国谋生，因为煤矿工人罢工的影
响，找不到船干活，于是乘泰坦尼克到纽约加入另一艘船。在泰坦尼
克上只能算是乘客。
8个华人都买的是三等舱票。名字如下：Choong Foo, Lee Bing, Ali
Lam, Chang Chip, Lee Ling, Ling Hee, Len Lam and Fang Lang。

有很多出入。
趁这个话题新鲜说一下我理解的版本
首先，电影跟小说相似度70－80%，除了屈指可数的部分细节（后面可以慢慢讲），李
安基本遵循原著，除了第二个故事稍有改动，整篇情节、细节、时间顺序跟小说几乎完
全一样
其次，宗教因素不是李安靠自己的理解添加的。而是小说作者自己的描述，小说中宗教
描写比李安的描述要详尽的多。所以如果真要比较，其实电影的宗教意味要略淡于小说
本身。
最后，关于第二个版本的故事，电影在顺序上跟小说有细微出入（把一些本来在小说后
面才提到的场景挪到了电影前面，一些本来在前面的挪到后面；一些本来是Pi跟日本人
的对话变成了Pi跟the writer的对话，that's all）
情节上电影反而有一点点删减。因此，说李安通过第二个故事引导观众去联想杀人，是
非常不公平的。实际上小说描写杀人、吃人的过程要比电影详细、也更活灵活现的多；
而关于Pi对应老虎、厨子对应hyena、sailor对应斑马、以及Pi的母亲对应红猩猩，全
是小说里日本人的原话。

2008年12月6日的午后，我们终于登上了驶往南极的船，赶文和我激动的在甲板上欢呼
雀跃着。我们第一次在夕阳下看到了这么美丽的Ushuaia，怎能不留下这难忘的画面呢？
站在五层的甲板上，远远的看着Ushuaia，我们要出发了。
在船上到处乱窜，又被拉去演习紧急疏散如何使用lifeboat，搞得我还有点儿小紧张。
毕竟我们上船之前刚刚听说南极有一艘游船触礁的事情。后来才知道，全世界都知道这
个事情了，要命的是船上有6个中国人，还有从广东来的。搞得赶文同学和我的家长，
朋友们都为此担心了好几天。这么看来，其实去南极这个trip在大家眼里并不是很安全
，呵呵，我们两个无知，胆大，就这么勇往直前了。
鉴于我们要努力省钱的原则，book trip的时候，选择的是蛮小的房间。事实上也真的
是很小，杰西同学有一张比火车上的卧铺稍微宽一点点的小床。赶文就惨了，睡着
futon。我们把行李厢里面需要在船上用的东西拿出来之后，箱子送去了船上的仓库存
放。因为这是一个research vessel，看得出条件蛮简陋的，完全不像是大家传统意义
