push for a stricter religious code in Egypt after claiming surprisingly
strong gains in the first round of Egypt's parliamentary elections.

political party, a U.S. diplomat said, after Washington announced it would
have direct contacts with Egypt's biggest Islamist group whose role has
grown since U.S. ally Hosni Mubarak was ousted.
Washington announced the plans in June, portraying such contacts as the

an opinion—many who do have never even been to Egypt but feel a strong

Cairo (CNN) -- Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak was admitted to a
hospital Tuesday, according to a spokesman for the Egyptian military.
Egyptian state television reported Mubarak suffered a heart attack during
questioning over possible corruption charges. When contacted by CNN, however
, the prosecutor's office denied any reports Mubarak had been questioned by
authorities Tuesday.

An Egyptian court sentenced a man to three years in jail with hard labour on
Saturday for insulting Islam in postings on Facebook, the official MENA
news agency reported.
The Cairo court found that Ayman Yusef Mansur "intentionally insulted the

Hosni Mubarak's ouster resumed on Wednesday without the long lines outside
