There are two kinds of tourist passports: 1-year and 5-year. The 5-year
one is exactly the same as you would get for studying in USA. You can
consult any international travel agency in Beijing if you want to confirm.
To get the 5-year passport, you have some restrictions, e.g. for tours to
southeast Asia you cannot get this passport. But I confirmed that it's possible
to get it if you go to Korea. Again, the best source for such information is
those travel agencies. It's just a simple matter of |

My mother came to USA more than 6 years ago. When I filled the DS160 online
recently, it asked for her former visa experience and former passport number
. So I remembered that I filled in both old and new passport numbers on the
form.
After finishing, I got the confirmation page, which used my mother's old
passport number.
Is that normal? Did anyone meet such kind of things before? Thanks a lot. |

Just checked with China Embassy: even I could apply for a new passport, I
could not get the new passport by the time I leave for China since there is
no expedited processing and it will take around 1 month to get a new

before expiration.
But on the website they say you can start 6 months before your
old passport gets expired. So I guess 6 months is OK.
Note: if you want to travel internationally ( let's say go back to China ),
you cannot hold a passport that's going to expire within 6 months.
Either Chinese customs officers don't let you leave the country,
Or U.S. customs officers don't let you in. |

You just renew your passport, they don't care if your US status is legal or
not. You better check with their website.
The following materials are definitely required:
your passport, to make the new stamp;
two copies of your passport page and visa page;
two photos;
money, $10?
SSN is defintely not required. I don't think I gave them my I-94.

天内的，当天就能拿到护照。早上很早walk in，7点半开门，但一般5点就很长的队了。
我住Bridgewater NJ，驾驶技术一般，而且也怵纽约市内高昂的停车费，所以准备坐火
车进城。
早上最早的一班火车4:39 am开出，到达New York Penn Station已经5:58 am了。
然后换乘地铁1号线到Houston St，网上查到的班次是5分钟一般，6分钟可到。
我从没坐过纽约市的地铁，买票和NJ Train一样么？

I have renewed my passport. I just found out the problem that my I-94 exp
date is expired.
But my I797 exp date is 09/2017.
What should I do?
Is that a big problem for my status in USA?
