The Senior Actuarial Associate will lead CMS bid modeling/analytics for
Medicare Advantage pricing strategies; Develop recommendations for UCare’s
overall pricing strategies to senior leadership for UCare’s suite of
products: Medicare, Medicaid and additional new business opportunities; lead
the Employer Group pricing development.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Manage and coordinate the analysis, preparation, and filing of the
Medicare premium rates and benefit package proposals for Part C. Develop
and maintain a process to file Medicare premium rates under the Medicare
Advantage bidding and Medicare Part D bidding process. Ensure thorough
process documentation is maintained to meet CMS audit requirements.
· Construct and apply actuarial models to solve business questions.
Applications include pricing, trend assumption development and projections
· Work with Corporate Actuary to provide data analysis and support
for Medicare Advantage bids. Develop projection factors for Medicare
Advantage and Prescription Drug plans, including trend, applicable
population adjustments, formulary changes, and other projection
considerations
· Lead effort to enhance Medicare Advantage bidding infrastructure/
process
· Support Medicaid rate negotiations, Medicaid competitive bids, and
implementation of CDPS Rx risk adjustment model.
· Develop assumptions and explore opportunities for new product
launches
· Lead Employer Group pricing process. Work with Government Programs
, Sales, and Product teams to establish product strategy and benefit
offerings.
· Maintain understanding of Part D program and assist in review of
Part D bid model updates
· Work with internal and external stakeholders from a variety of
backgrounds. Build/Strengthen relationships with stakeholders and understand
how actions impact/influence others.
· Serve as Health Care Economics representative on various ad-hoc
work groups. Provide ad-hoc financial analysis as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
· Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Business Degree or related field
Required Experience
· ASA Certification
· Minimum 5 years related experience in Actuarial consulting or
direct health insurance industry experience required
Preferred Experience
· FSA certification or working towards.
· Technical skills with SQL and/or SAS.
· 2 years experience with Medicare Advantage and Part D bidding
