Hi, guys,
I have a new 2010 Jetta TDi manual, with less than 3,000 miles on it.
Recently I have noticed a noise issue.
When I drive it at 70 mph with 6th gear at 1950 rpm to 2000 rpm, I can hear
a very low and continuous sound like: " wu~ wu~ wu~ wu~ er---" at a fast
rate. It repeats almost once every second.
It is not the sound of the engine, because I can also hear the constant
engine sound. I would guess it could be the sound of the turbo, or the soot
burner in the tailpipe, though it sounds more like from the front under the
hood. It is so low that sometimes I think it is just a hallucination. But I
can hear it more clearly when I turn off the radio and use cruise control.
It does appear at lower speed with similar rpm. But it seems it is not that
noticeable when I depress the clutch at 65-70 mph, or keep the engine at
less than 1500 rpm.
It is not necessarily annoying, but I am just curious. Also, the rear right
wheel hit a curb when my car skidded a little bit on snow/ice at a very low
speed a few days ago, although I really don't think there is a correlation
between them -- only a small scratch on the edge of the wheel.
Also a more noticeable wind noise comes from left B pillar - between the
driver side front and rear windows. Just wondering if you guys get the same
noise.

高速废气穿过这个阀产生的气动噪声.
可能是exhaust valve设计缺陷,这个只有最新版tdi才有.
