8日，上海市第一人民医院数十位眼疾患者，因注射一种叫做“阿瓦斯汀(avastin)”的
药剂，导致眼睛失明。目前，医院正对事故原因进行调查，同时对注射试剂进行化验。
对于严重失明的患者，医院已安排四名专家对其进行治疗，期待病人早日恢复视力。
截至8日晚，医院大约有七八十名眼疾患者都出现了眼睛疼痛的现象，其中有55名
患者失明。
据了解，Avastin是第一个被美国FDA批准的、通过抑制血管生成发挥抗癌作用的新
药，是现行几种抗血管生成制剂之一，可抑制血管内皮生长因子(VEGF)的生成。近年研
究表明，该药在治疗眼部新生血管性以及渗出性病变中疗效显著，而且价格便宜。据《

Is this a clinical trial for Avastin in China?
Roche was not pushing for its sale for eye therapy, as I recall. So strategi
cally they might be running a cheaper study in China for a solid sale everyw
here else.
This news will be devastating for Avastin, given the recent strings of bad n
ews of this drug. I hope scientists and funding agencies don't abandon anti-
angiogenesis therapy completely because of this disaster yet.

Avarstin is cheaper when compared with Lucentis, for treating eye diseases (
AMD or diabetic retinopathy).

However it cost $2000/treatment while the later cost only $150.
