This is obviously an abnormal hand. Pard has points enough to double 4S, with
14 good points in hand, I believe South should do something.
Question: should South try 5H or 5D?

If double is for penalty, you are not invited to the party. The only reason
you would want to bid is that you may have a slam. However, this is not so
clear. Doubleton in opponent's suit suggests for defense, not offense. Pd had
to have something in the trump, given your strength in the red suits, to
justify his double.
Normally I would take the middle road to take the sure profit.

legitimate score??
Forget about the field protection at BBO... as most people's defense are
relatively primitive which encourages overbidding.
As far as 21-23 3NT sometimes there's a good reason. Sometimes you don't see a
way to get there.
I remember a hand from a regional open pairs. I held AQx Q8 T8x AKJTx, both
white, I was 1st to speak. I deemed this hand to be too good to open 1NT so I
opened 1C and when pd responder 1S

to bid like that? I prefer an honest bidding and always a precise describe of
your hand at first bid. I would bid 1NT while using sayc.
I had played with some excellent players, any time I bid not honest, I got
lessons.

others will reach 5D/5H, cuz of my wrong calculation, thought they will get
500 bonus, so I think my score will be lowest of all.

N-S have one or two minor fits (not so good fits), and 4-1 or 3-2 on majors,
with some points. When you look at four hands (double dummy), some of them are
cold 3nt, some of them are not. But it is really hard to defend that kind of
3NT. Because the defense side normally hold infra-structure in majors or
easily gets blocked by themselves.
For that kind of 3NT, N-S always start bidding with 1C/1D, then push it to
3NT.

+500 should be a reasonable score. Tops and bottoms are for Match point,
not IMP. Anyway, I wouldn't pull the double if your partner's double is
for penalty. if it's take out, it would be a tough hand to bid,
that's why some players play good bad 4NT here.
4S x p 4NT: shows slam interest in H or D, or sign off in C.
4S x p 5C: slam interest in C.
4S x p 5D/H: to play.

you usually need less than 25 HCP to make 3NT.
one extreme case is that:
SAxx HAK Dxxxx Cxxxx
Sxx Hxx Dxxx CAKxxxx
you have only 18 HCP, but 3NT has very good play.

发帖数: 623 | 11 Hehe occasionally I do crazy things but I consider myself a rather disciplined
player. Discipline in my dictionary means more of unilateral actions (such as
US) than actions out of HCP boundaries. For that 16 count, I will
systematically open 1C despite that my NT range is 15-17.
