k********y 发帖数: 84 | 1 Hi, a cousin of mine, who's studying Chinese dance at Minzu University of
China, wants to come to the US to learn dancing (don't ask me why). Does
anyone know which schools in the US have good dance programs? Do they give
out scholarships? Are they difficult/easy to get? What are the
qualifications she would have to satisfy to apply if there are schools
with good dance programs?
Thanks in advance for your responses. I'm clueless when it comes to this
subject. | p*******l 发帖数: 55 | 2 hello kitkat,
I want to help you, but the amount of information you provided here is very
limited for me to offer any insightful advice. It sounds like your cousin is
pursuing a Bachelor's degree in dance. Does she want to pursue a degree
program (i.e., Master's degree) in dance here in the U.S.? Or does she just
want to learn dance? It sounds like she needs a degree program in order to
get a student visa and come here. She can also get a work visa if she can
get hired by a professional dance company, but that sounds even more remote
in terms of feasibility than the option mentioned above.
Second of all, I am also certain that there is no dance degree program with
a concentration in Chinese folk dance offered by any university here. That
means if she wants to pursue a dance program, she would have to choose a
different genre, i.e. ballet, modern, jazz, etc. It would be awfully
difficult to get into such a program with scholarship if she is not very
good at it.
The bottom line is that, yes, there are universities in the U.S. that have a
dance program, and they do offer scholarships.

pradagirl, thank you so much for the information!
I asked my mom, and it seems my cousin just wants to come here for a
master's degree in either dance, or dance or even stage related subject,
like directing, design, or choreography. Do you happen to have any
information on those subjects, e.g., which schools offer those programs,
which are good, how does one go about applying for those, etc.?
Thanks a bunch!
