I think it's "chicken-or-egg" question.

No idea about linguistics. However since it makes sense to place
attributes near the object they describe, so it is natural to put
them right before or after the object. Actually French is the latter
case.

我经常越想越觉得奇妙。
比如说，中文里讲“发自内心”，
英语里"from the bottom of my heart”，
可是其实你的思维，感情是发自大脑（brain），而不是心脏(heart)。
类似的“不约而同”还有好多，研究起来一定很好玩。
