regard to salary. She said they were willing to put it out there to show
how interested they are. This is a good school, low salary (I am in the no-
big-buck humanities). I wonder how I would go about bargaining for a better
pay. Just give a counter offer and see what happens? How much more should I
ask for? a couple thousands I guess?

Otherwise, try to ask for an increase on the base salary. You probably will
have 3-5% increment. I asked for 10%, but only got 5%. |

除非你的OFFER开始就给压的很低，否则你要涨10%，门的没有。人家系里干了4，5年的
还拿不过你新来的，你觉得系主任能摆的平吗？

得涨，而不是凭什么他比我高。一般在promotion或者有equity opportunity 的时候都
会尽量解决。不过在学校挣不了几个钱的，钱第一的话，赶紧转行吧。 |

发帖数: 124 | 9 没有其它的offer了，我刚看了下子，和我同等规格的都差不多这么个价钱，可是她又
说可以negotiate, 真糟糕，大周末的还找不到我老板商量。

reasonable to ask. good luck. |

其次你应该知道地区差异。
再次你应该了解comparable school的情况。
Do a well-informed negotiation, preferably supported by evidence. |

谢大家指点。我们工资底，就算要也要不了多少，我就是觉得人都说了可以讲，我要不

是个前一百的research university里头的工作。 按照我之前的理解这个是教书为主，
不怎么要求研究，叫的也是assistant professor不过不是天牛系列的。可是那天chair
给我下offer的时候使劲跟我说有什么研究的机会我可以pursue. 按照纯教书的大家就
都是这个统一的工资水平，我已经从学校网站上查了，但是她说可以多给，我对我的角
色就有点迷惑了。

area. My job search is therefore constrained by a 100 radius centered
around home. This is the only offer I got from a decent university.
