Job Description:
The Student Support Coordinator has the primary responsibility of supporting
GSS’s staff in coordinating the following areas within the Global Student
Success Office under the GSS assistant director: Volunteer Team Leader
Program, Language and Culture Workshops, Communications, and Events.
Job Responsibilities
1. Volunteer Team Leader (VTL) Program
a. Coordinates logistics and scheduling of volunteer activities
b. Assists with the selection, training, and supervision of VTLs
c. Communicates regularly with VTL’s and volunteers regarding upcoming
activities
d. Maintains detailed record of all activities, including data entry
2. Language and Culture Workshops
a. Coordinates logistics (including room reservations, time confirmation,
etc.) for workshops
b. Assists staff in creating workshops and other opportunities for
student engagement
c. Maintains detailed record of all activities, including data entry
3. Communications
a. Serves as the front-line contact person for GSS. This includes
answering incoming calls for GSS and directing messages to GSS staff.
b. Assists in maintaining marketing and publications for GSS
c. Assists in drafting communications to students (e.g., prearrival
emails, etc.) as well as information for newsletter, events calendar, etc.
d. Advertises information on websites, newsletters and calendars
e. Develops promotional materials utilizing a wide variety of media
sources (social media, etc.)
f. Translates documents into other languages as needed
4. Events
a. Assists in the planning and implementation of events (e.g., Arrival
Program)
5. Others
a. Attends meetings and takes notes
b. Handles other routine administrative tasks
c. Assists in coordinating ongoing assessment and evaluation of the
quality of international student life
d. Contributes to the development and implementation of GSS goals and
priorities
e. Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
• Undergraduate degree in a relevant field
• Experience in student services related position
• Experience working with international students as well as working
, living, or study abroad
• Customer service experience
• Proficiency in a language other than English preferred
