发帖数: 1334 | 4 Scramble for this year is very tough due to several reasons:
- Record low number of first-year (prelim and categorical) positions
available for scramble: about 1000. (2001: 2288, 2010: 1060)
- Record high number of applicants participated in scramble: estimated about
13,000 – 15,000;
- The computer problem caused many people (many AMGs included) couldn't get
the unfilled position list on time.
What AMGs did in my school:
Students sent out applications through ERAS. Some PDs and Deans placed calls
on students' behalf. Programs reviewed applications and conducted phone
interviews. If an agreement was reached, the program sent out paper work and
students signed the agreement.
After the first day, all prelim positions were gone except one, which was
taken by next morning.
In 2010 match, 179 qualified AMGs didn't get any residency position after
the scramble. The number could be higher this year. |

对吧。是说有其他考虑？还是单纯的够水平program不够？ |

发帖数: 1334 | 9 The medical school enrollment increase is based on AAMC's physician-shortage
projection. Yes the number of residency positions should also be increased,
but unfortunately there is no funding for this at this moment.
NRMP is considering the option for eliminating prematch in the future.
