我是国内phD，genetics专业，主要做植物染色体结构功能方向。出国来博后已三年，
基本还是植物染色体还有就是基因组学。目前的状况，faculty基本无望，植物界
industry工作也少之又少，所以不得不另寻出路。
选择geneticist（或者cytogeneticist）的原因：
我一直以来都是做染色体，对染色体的功能结构方面很熟悉，FISH以及分生的实验基本
无难度。医学方面的专业知识肯定需要学习，但是我个人还是很有兴趣，我妈也是医生
，从小也算是有些熏陶。
想咨询的问题：
1，clinical geneticist是否需要一定的在校学习？我google看到说phd毕业，2年相关
领域的postdoc training就行，是真的吗？我是家里唯一的收入来源，如果必须要交钱
上课，我基本就无望了。如果做postdoc可以算trainning，那我还有希望养家糊口。
2，clinical geneticist的实际salary有多少。我google过，至少我比较满意。但是不
知道实际情况如何。
3，position是不是比较容易找？
4，关键的问题，没有绿卡是不是也可以考？（niw 140一年半应该能拿到，但是排期的
话3年内绿卡应该无望，除非有奇迹。。）
我最近真的好迷茫，看不到明天的路在哪里。不管什么样的建议，我都真心感谢你们了！ |

programs in clinical genetics are accredited by the American Council of

gynecology, or other medical specialty. In addition, combined 4-5 year
training residency programs in Internal Medicine/Medical Genetics, OBGYN/
Medical Genetics and Pediatrics/Medical Genetics are also available.
Residents accepted to ACGME accredited residency programs. Physicians with a
M.D. earned outside of the United States or Canada must have their degree
reviewed by the ABMG Credentials Committee prior to entering a training

照这个说来，只要是有资质的学校，两年postdoc trainning 就可以了。可是我没有找
到考试相关的信息，难道是受训完就直接可以拿这个certificate了吗？是不是没有相
关的board？ |

requirement. To my knowledge, the board of clinical genetics is as hard as
USMLE test. It divided into general board and subspecialty board. |

貌似明年的training基本就开始申请了，不管三七二十一，我先去试试吧。。 |

I did that half a yr ago and the impression is that only 50? Programmes are
accreded.most of them do not provide visa and financial spt. Those giving a
visa and salary are very hard to get in.but you can get it as a PhD. |

molecular或cytogenetic或biochemical的fellowship， 不用自己出钱。2年的
training，完了要考试拿
license，出来就是管理molecular/cytogenenetic/biochemical的诊断实验室，出报告
之类的，不直接接触病人。 |
