教社会在进步就是坚持政教分离。

People rely on their own value systems to govern their behavior and life.
If so, that value system is pretty much human nature. That is part of the
reason you see 40% PLUS children born out of wed lock. Of some racial group,
that figure is over 70%. Family value and other values are deteriorating.
With welfare available, culture of consumer spending, and the money/sex
driven pop culture, there would be less and less hard working, curious
intellects, qualified work force to feed the future of western society.
Ask yourself this question, can an ordinary person derive some value system
better than Christianity to guide his/her life, so as one small component of
society, he/she would make positive contribution? The answer is no.
Here religion is not about big bang, super nova, or God at all. It is about
values. 价值观。
As of Islam, maybe reading history of Islamic state could help one
understand why Islamic belief is absolutely against long term progress,
common goods for all, especially the well being of women, which accounts for
1/2 of the population.
I am not saying western government/society structure is best for the whole
world. Sometimes, I think the uni-bomber's opinion is right. But the world
has already stepped onto a forever marching chariot, there is no way to stop
or turning it back.
