plastic boots, unless you're spending long time in humid/very cold
environment or doing technical climbs that need plastic boots for better
support
I climbed Rainier and a 5000m+ peak in my backpacking boots, as long as they
're stiff enough and water-proof (mine is not even Gore-Tex). Invoker used
a pair of slightly less stiff boots on Rainier and somehow his crampon came
off multiple times.

发帖数: 13580 | 8 I have a pair of plastics and I have worn them only a few times in winter
and spring. I would not wear them if the approach is long. I do not
recommend backpacking boots on snow even if it's not technical. Lightweight
mountaineering boots (e.g. La Sportiva Trango S Evo, Scarpa Charmoz, Kayland
Apex, etc) work a lot better. They are stiffer than backpacking boots and
have better traction and keep your feet drier and warmer.
