Do you also think the quality and reputation of APL is getting bad?
There were indeed a lot paper in APL in past two year, but still, the IF of
APL is arround 4, higher than PRB.
I am hesitating where should I submit for my next paper.....

APL IF高主要是被引用的多。而往往是APL自己互相引用非常频繁。一片APL 15－20个
reference，里面有10个
APL一点都不希奇。近几年发行量又很大，所以我感觉IF~4是有点虚的。但是总体来说
APL还是不错的，至少在我
们做solid state device/physics这个领域里面还比较认可。我导师的原则是最新的试
验结果投APL，比较偏物理推
导的投PRB, JAP。最好的结果投PRL。
看你做的方向了，如果做你们这的方向的都投PRB，你就没必要投APL，虽然IF高点。同
行互相的认可还是比较重要
的。关键大家发了paper，还是想让别人读，引用的。

I certainly agree with you. The 3.9 IF is not that solid. Most people in my
field still submit to APL for the new results. And for some of our work
below the level of PRL, we submit to either APL and PRB.
But looks you don't feel anything too bad about it. That's good. I am just a
little concerned about the future of this journal.

这话太伤了，很多实验手段上的突破投APL还是很合适的，基本可以当高级实验报告的
灌水基地。

就好像太监怕别人说他没jiji一样，非要有个假jiji加上去才满意。 |
