time excluded, with 95 percent probability, a mass for the Higgs of 170 GeV."
Experimentally "excluded the particular value 170Gev", NOT " excluded the
values >= 170Gev".
Some physicists claimed http://arxiv.org/abs/hep-th/0610241 in their THEORY that the Higgs was around 170Gev. Now it's EXPERIMENTALLY excluded by Fermilab. That's it.

Standard Model Higgs。直接的,也就是说,直接撞出Higgs,并且寻找它decay的产物。
在Tevatron以前,唯一的这样的bound来自LEP, >114GeV.前面这个170GeV的是Tevatron
的最新结果,就像xiongxiong所说,只是170附近的Higgs被rule out. 但它的质量可以
更高,也可以更低。但是,wiki上说这个是“Precision measurements of
electroweak observables indicate”是不对的,这牵扯到第二种bound,从所谓的
electroweak precision measurements得到,也就是所谓的间接的limit. 这种limit存
在是因为很多物理量测量得很精确,以至于从Higgs圈图的修正都不可忽略,而这种修
正是和Higgs的质量相关的,所以Higgs的质量不能太大,一般来说大约上限在200GeV左
右,前面的144GeV我觉得有点太乐观,不用太在意。
