今天太阳终于出来了，
前面几天都是苦雨绵绵。
真羡慕那只刚出水的小蜉蝣，
它的一生都将是阳光灿烂。
Mayfly
You fly in the mid-air in this breezy May.
You have swum in the stream till this day.
Flying makes you feel even freer and merrier.
Like love bugs you fly in pairs, love is in the air,
you dance around each other like no tomorrow.
To many, tomorrow is just another day.
It'll come and go without you.
You'll never know it's sunny or grey.
Indifferent as snowflakes to the fate of melting,
blissful as children playing in the spring.
I hear a mother asking her daughter:
"Why did you wait so long, so long
to come out of the water."

，然后出水成为成虫，再生活几分钟到几天不等。这“一生”仅仅是为成虫的时间。

wait这个词好像和小孩不是很搭。
这首的题目和老宅那首的内容都让我想起叶芝的ephemera:
'YOUR eyes that once were never weary of mine

来，作者其实是借这个问题在问蜉蝣，你为什么在水里等(呆)这么久才出来呢，结果在
空气中飞翔的快乐时光那么短，早点出不是可以更长吗。
叶芝的这首蜉蝣其实跟蜉蝣没关系，只是借了它生命短暂的寓意。

更可能说why did you stay/play in the water for so long, 或why did it take
you so long. 用wait好像有点中文的感觉。
是啊，生命短暂，爱恨恣意。前面那篇老宅让我想到相似的人事变迁和感情维系，这篇
也给我尽情享受生命的感觉：

表达上哪个更符合母语者的自然说法，非native speaker永远都会有这样的问题，哈金
说他自己有，也说纳博科夫有，他说也未尝不是一种特色。
