由于不是科班出身（虽然去政治系听了一些课），感觉对PS的了解不是很系统。国际关
系基本没怎么涉足。对于比较感兴趣的CP，我感觉自己了解的主要也还是定性的，多是
对于不同的历史道路的比较。而且对于历史的了解也不是很系统，没有多少自己去脚踏
实地的对细节研究，所知道的多是一些学者的conclusions和与之相关的一些evidence。
我很想知道如果要专业的研究CP,应该看些什么、注重什么方法才能达到要求、何目前的
研究方法一致?

发帖数: 14 | 5 Barrington Moore的Social Origins除了印度那篇都看了。很喜欢。但感觉他依赖对于
社会各阶层的冲突的分析，而冲突的原因他似乎认为是经济的转变（agricultural=>co
mmercial and industrial）或新阶层的壮大,有新的social forces或social structur
e。令人感觉他做的分析颇为marxism。
但Moore的逻辑性没的说，感觉是一环套一环的，每个段落都少不了。

modeling. IPE might be a promising field to you...also, to the whole field
of PS.
Actually, I don't think the historical analysis, like Moore, fits your
background. First, you will be very tired if you devote on this; second,
others can do much better than you. Anyway, I believe you should take
advantage of your background. Don't waste it!
Read APSR ba. Tons of quantatitive or formal model articles there and you

I do not doubt that, by following your advice, I would probably make the mos
t of what my academic background has to offer. However, I doubt quantitative
analysis is where my interest lies.
I know I might seem to be a bleak prospect at historical analysis, given tha
t I do not have a formal training in history. But I find myself particularly
good at forming theories from historical facts, piecing everything together

you're gonna spend at least 10 years on the field or topic, i would
recommend you to follow your current interest.
moreover, quantitative training is always a plus for you. my advisor
suggests me to develop two fields in grad school: one is what you feel
extremely enthusiastic about; the other is more practical and mainstream. it
is actually doable if you're motivated enough. the benefit of developing
two fields is your v

in US now. sociologists, political scientists, and some historians are
working on many interesting topics related to revolution, social movements,
liberalism, industrial revolution, etc. I'm working in the field too. i
would recommend two books for you have a sense of what's going on in this
field.
Remaking Modernity, by Adams, Orloff, and Clemens. the book is a collection
of essays by a bunch of sociologists. obviously,
