Exactly. 也同样可见，好的写作本身应该是一件略带神秘色彩的事情。
如纵马驰骋，录其所见，而不是胡编乱造，拿一些毫无深度又全无思想
的日常琐事拼凑小说。目前中文网上所见的连载小说，大多属于此类。

深度么，偶看
LOTR = 欧洲各国的史诗传奇（Homeric Epics, Nieblunglied, Beowulf, Kalevala,
Morte D’Arthur, Edda Saemundar， Chanson Roland etc.) 加一块去粗取精。
后者可是Tolkien 本人在牛津的饭碗。就象史学家就着史实写历史小说，这位是在真有的
传奇基础上编传奇。所以LOTR比起别的书看了更有似曾相识之感，雾里看花之美。

我的感觉是这本书tolkien在练左右搏击之术，自己和自己在玩游戏。
其实西方的游戏此类题材很多，eg,diablo, dungenkeeper，
不管是谁先谁后，至少我读到XX族，勇士巫师，城堡攻防这样
的概念，已经不觉得新奇了。
在发明pc games/mud之前，大家都只能玩玩文字类的RPG游戏吧，
就像龙枪那样的。当然不是每个人都能像tolkienn那样，编个
15种语言出来的。
在欣赏语言的耐心也不存在的时候，我放弃了读它。

TTT. lotr is rather dense, like a secret garden fenced with tall thick trees.
Once went through it, lots of fun inside. Tolkien was a very good visioner
and dreamer. It's not what was written but how it was written that charmed
readers. I tried other fantasis like Terry Brooks, Robert Jordan's which also
had dwarves and elves those races and wars and adventures, but they were
simply not good.

that the elves seem to be pure good and the orcs seem to be pure evil. of
course you can say there is frodo who represents inner struggle. poor him! and
this chapter about shelob is a bit too freakish. :)
all in all i like aragorn the best. (in the book, forget about the movie for a
second.) the man has to earn his heritage. and my favorate quote is "for dawn
is ever the hope of men." that's just really classic!

back stories he didn't bother to crash into lotr but mentioned in appendices
and other writings. When you got into his world deeper and deeper then all
these backward "history" got heavy on you and you'll find it possessed a
complexity of poetry & humanity. Elves were not pure good. They had loads of
struggles and reflection upon the world. And they could be evil, slayed their
own kin, or greedy, were cheated and use

i never understood why aragon must take the paths of the dead. he was even
later than the riders of rohan in arriving at the battle. maybe by taking the
path, aragon saved lebennin and belfalas, but that's totally not worth it if

mentioned.
aragorn himself was not so sure about choices. even gandalf and elves
couldn't fully foresee the future. gladriel's water mirror showed what may
come to..uncertainties, possibilities. he faced not merely time issue. only
he and gimili and legolas and a few rangers wouldn't be much help to minas
tirith. by taking the path of the dead, he could pass through the mountain

difference is: most writings act as a vehicle of trivia, transport & display
them, come & go, and disappear as fast as water seeps into sand; others got
mastery of trivia, eventually become timeless classics.

Yep that's what they were. "merry as a child, solemn as a king!" "they were
for star & moon, dawn & dusk!" and many more..
fancy?
hiahia I always end up loving sidekicks.^^ Major chars carry the huge duty as
plot device while minor roles are to charm and entertain. I dont care much
for Frodo or Aragorn. But Sam, Legolas, Gimili, Merry, & Pippin got on me.
Btw many elves esp. Noldor elves and some Edain like Turin were much more
outlawed and mysterious than Aragorn. (Silmarillion).

更早之前就去世了。Sam在LP Rosie死后去了瓦砾诺疗伤。也就是说，Legolas与Gimili是
一直在中土陪着朋友生前的，Gimili能去西土，一是Legolas的友谊，和Galadriel的
眷顾，也是dwarf的寿命长。最后他俩出海，on the last grey ship。
书末appendix里还有个bug，就是Arwen对临终的Aragorn说，她不可能去不死之地的，
因为精灵都早已走了，没有航船了。这就与上面矛盾了。
也许Arwen已没有生存之志了罢，所以回到荒芜寂廖的lothlorien，一个人默默死去。
当时看到这一段，觉得人去林空的lothlorien，真象红楼梦里80回后寒烟漠漠的
大观园。早先的Lothlorien，在Gladriel与精灵戒指的魔力保护下，安详美丽，有
时间长驻之感。繁华时期的大观园，可不也是曹雪芹匠心苦造，让时间空间凝聚于
一点。
岁月之轮转动不息，也只有艺术家们，不断沉积晶化时间长流里的片

poor arwen mm. i'd rather cheer over aragon's wedding than mourn over arwen's
death. one can be both 'sad and gay'. there's no question about it.
the writers are like the dwarves who make the mithil armors, or the elves who
make the swords. and then the armors and the swords will be buried
underground, in a goblin infested mine, behind a spell-protected door.
and one day our good friend bilbo stumbled upon them and wrote LotR! :)

在精灵看来，千年只是弹指之间。Arwen尚觉幸福的时光苦短，Aragorn已经厌倦
长长的一生了，执意求死。人类生老病死，自身有许多弱点，生活有许多缺憾，对
快乐与悲伤同存的道理更能坦然接受。完美的精灵呢，则是眼里容不得沙子，最最
理想主义的乐。
电影里Aragorn平躺在石棺上，慢慢虚化成石像，Arwen垂首独立，黑衣飘飘的，还
是很浪漫美丽的。还有裹着灰色长袍的精灵，执灯夜行，象影子与微光闪过。。良

one thing is he is very tall then others like legolas would look too short..

sometimes scheduals clash. we should be grateful for what we have, not what we
