whxhm提到这个问题。主要是
1) walking slow down a lot
2) walking then running is harder
其实我觉得。walking break还是非常非常有用。有用的让我觉得是cheating :)

Why do walk breaks work?
By using muscles in different ways from the beginning, your legs keep their
bounce as they conserve resources. When a muscle group, such as your calf,
is used continuously step by step, it fatigues relatively soon. The weak
areas get overused and force you to slow down later or scream at you in

My personal experience is that, if you CAN pick up your pace after taking
the walking break, then you didn't
need the walking break in the first place. If you have muscle cramps it's a
different situation. I'm just talking
about when people want to talk as a result of extreme exhaustion. When you
start walking, you are likely
going to lose that mental edge. Remember, running is 100% mental (and 100%
physical).:) Afterall, the
marathon isn't that long. You don't want to break down completely and

恩。没错。这样说也有道理。
也可能个人情况不一样。。hoho
其实我倒重来没有觉得'lose mental edge' when I started running after walking
break. 可能和习惯有关系.hehe. I walk a lot always :)
I feel fresher after walking break.
walking break magic主要是让肌肉小休息一下,这样可以跑长一点不over use.
当然这个和距离关系很大。没有必要add walking break into a 5k (for most of
people)
but marathon is quite different. (因为更容易肌肉疲劳?)
for somebody.. marathonm is not that LONG.
but for other... it is VERY LONG :D
or it is too long to keep certain pace all thru.

My guess is, if you want to use walking breaks in races, you should use
walking breaks consistently in the training (following Galloway's plans).
But I feel walking breaks do not work for me, walking uses muscles in a
different way than running, also walking has a negative mental impact on me
too.

我比较喜欢喝水的时候停一下,走两步,5-10秒的样子,下面的1mile就会觉得轻松很
多,省下的时间多过走的两步的时间。
但如果停的时间长了,超过半分钟,再跑就很难受了。
我LG就觉得停下来一下子就把pace打乱了,所以他尽量都不喝水。
我俩的case都属于“训练不刻苦”的。

我echo前面人说的:
如果要take walking break,是plan好的breaks,这样的break可以re-energize
如果是因为exhausted才take break,这样的break会让你无法pick up pace
you strategically choose when and where to take breaks and decide how long
the breaks should be, not being forced to breaks.

恩。昨天看了两篇反对gallowalking得文章。让我颇受打击阿 。

The bottom line is simple....you cannot use a "gimmick" to run faster than
you are trained to run. But, you can use it to help to better pace yourself
if you are unable to do so running the traditional way.

Gallowalking won't yield the fastest marathon that one should be capable of.

确实是.plan好的才行.
我的4迈比赛就是因为停下喝水了;喝水后不久岔气了,然后不得不又停下来走了2次.
所以在最后的2迈里走了3次,彻底把pace打乱了.

Man, you don't need water in a 4 mile race. You wanted water purely for
psychological reasons. In a race, just
tough it out.

4迈为啥还要停下来喝水?不解

喝水其实是我赛前半小时时计划的.
lactose的问题其实跟stomach flu一样的,吃啥拉啥,喝啥啦啥,拉了一宿的肚子,赛前还
拉了一次,加上比赛前没带水,warmup1~2迈之后就渴的不行了.所以比赛前就决定了到2
迈处喝水.
其实计划应该是开始跑慢点,而不应该喝水.跑步中喝这杯水对剩下2迈一点作用都不会
有.不过这种经验只有多比赛才会得到的.

以前我总以为不停的跑才是好.现在对这种边走边跑的方法也是将信将疑.
