All sorts of people are fond of repeating the Christian statement that
‘God is love’. But they seem not to notice that the words ‘God is love’
have no real meaning unless God contains at least two Persons. Love is
something that one person has for another person. If God was a single
person, then before the world was made, He was not love. Of course, what
these people mean when they say that God is love is often something quite
different: they really mean ‘Love is God’. They really mean that our
feelings of love, however and wherever they arise, and whatever results
they produce, are to be treated with great respect. Perhaps they are: but
that is something quite different from what Christians mean by the
statement ‘God is love’. They believe that the living, dynamic activity of
love has been going on in God forever and has created everything else.

发帖数: 1574 | 4 Poor logic along the line of "either/or" thinking...here's why:
1."Love is something that one person has for another person. If God was a single person, then before the world was made, He was not love."
--Not necessarily, even in the framework of Christianity. God could still be love even BEFORE the world was made. If the essence of God is love, then the creation process of God (e.g. the big bang; or “一生二，二生三，三生万物”)could very likely just be a way to manifest his loving nature and fulfill his loving purpose. In other words, God creates so that he himself could experience love through a loving relationship with the world that he creates. If not for love, why did he create us at all?
2. "Love is God".
--I disagree with that as well. Love is "an essence" of God.

释。
相似的还有：神的善、神的公义等等。我的意见是这些词是单纯的溢美之词。
如果按照人类的解释就要出大乱子。 | E*****m

其實可以不要用人類的『愛』字，容易誤會，如果沒有人類語言可以表示，就說
神是XX 就好。
