本人情况：statistics小硕，工作７年，１年pharmaceutical market research，６年
class I medical device。现在的title是sr statistician。工作很轻松，工资待遇都
很满意，只是太没挑战。所以想换个工作。我所在地区Biotech都是小公司，很不稳定
。想转到别的公司，做个biostatistician，一是别人还很挑，嫌我class I medical
device的背景不够strong；二是很有可能pay cut（拿到一个CRO的offer，开的工资比
我现在低２，３万）
这个小保险公司offer我 sr Predictive Modeler，工资待遇都不错。
好处是：１。保险行业是成熟的行业，相对biotech，比较稳定
２。我一转行，就能拿到SR。title，是个很好的起点
弊端是：１。过去７年的经验积累对今后工作没有帮助
２。工作离家远，３５miles，单程１个小时。两个小时就要耗在路上了。
苦恼中，不知何去何从。请问各位xdjm，在保险公司做m |

1。JNJ：不过是做drug eluting stent的研发，虽然也是做clinical trials，但是和
做药不太一样，感觉前途比较窄，本来就没几家公司做这个，一旦进了这个行以后想换
药厂就比较难了，顶多只能去medical device公司。
2。GSK：是non-clinical statistician，当时也不知道怎么就申请了，跟clinical
trials完全没关系，主要是和一帮生产线上的chemical engineers，microbiologists
等打交道，提供一些统计support以提高生产效率，保证产品质量，类似consultant的
干活，觉得挺难做的，前途也不光明，让我从clinical转成non-clinical，有点像
career suicide。
3。Covance：senior biostatistician，就是帮药厂做project的，基本全是做药物开
发，主要是Phase II, III，除了干活累点，感觉对今后的career发展最有用，能积累
很多 |

Whoever with master degree usually can't be called "biostatistician".
They are called programmers (the same relationship as quant developers
supporting quants).
Programmers in Pharma usually earn about the same as developers in software
industry, far less than developers in financial industry. |

以前找工作时结识的recruiter打电话来推销工作，我答应替她寻找合适的人。因为是
私人信件，不便张贴，如果满足以下条件，可以给我的MIT信箱发信，我会forward有关
内容。
1. 不用 sponsor H-1B。Citizen, GC holder为佳，485EAD也可。H-1B或者F-1OPT不用
浪费时间了，我电话里问的很明白，现在公司精的很。
2. 熟练使用SAS & R。要有分析大量数据的经验。数据性质不明，recruiter也外行,不
过我猜测是作SNP的，做whole genome scan的弟兄们应该没问题，如果平时不用SAS或
R，肯定要补课。
3. PhD 或 MS均可。前者要求有postdoc经验，后者要求有工作经验（没细问，估计学
