在加州，住一个court,就是四面公寓楼围着一片大草地的大四合院。住户主要是中印和
少数白人。因为有大草地，所以孩子们经常一起玩。我家小男孩跟各肤色孩子都玩得不
错，每天都有小孩来敲门找他玩。
事情经过：上周六，我儿子正跟一个差不多大的、4岁多的印度小女孩在外面玩。外面
还有群大点的孩子，包括女孩的8岁哥哥。我在客厅窗户那里能看到外面，就过会看上

4日，1989年发生“天安门事件“的日子，这个词在互联网上被禁掉了，人们于是使用
“5月35日”来逃避审查和纪念那天发生的事。
今年早些时候我访问台湾的时候，我的书《十个词汇里的中国》在那儿刚刚出版。我被
问到，“为什么这本书不能在大陆出版，而你的小说《兄弟》却可以？”
这就是虚构与非虚构的差别：尽管两本书都是关于当代中国的，《兄弟》触及的是隐晦
的事因而可以成为漏网之鱼，而《十个词汇里的中国》过于直白，逃不过审查。
“《兄弟》是5月35日”，我解释道，“而《十个词汇里的中国》更像6月4日。”

也可以把今日的中国看作一个半封建国家，也就是说，强调君君臣臣父父子子，强调社
会次序，这是封建社会的一个特征。
举一个例子吧。最近看了几集北京爱情故事，就是原来士兵突击那个剧组的几个演员演
的，其实主要是想看看北京，捎带着看看士兵，结果北京不是那个北京，士兵也不是那
个士兵，爱情也不是那个爱情，都串味了。里面有一个镜头，就是那个成才演的富二代
，在公司里看到前台小姐慢待了自己的老朋友，就是演许三多班长的那个，然后就冲着
年轻的前台大发脾气，让我一下子就想到了旧社会地主恶霸家的丫鬟。真的很像啊，虽
然我没有生活在旧社会，但是看着那个低头唯唯诺诺的前台，还有凶神恶煞般的阔少，
感觉旧社会也就这样了。
北京曾经不是这样子的，比如说80年代90年代初都不是这样子的。北京那些饭店的服务

下午去接丫头放学，正准备离开，她忽然不走了，说同学欠了她钱，得等着要帐。我知
道她在recess画招财猫卖给同学，一幅画2块，挣了有差不多30块钱。所以就问她是不
是又卖画了，结果人家一张嘴吓得我差点没憋过去，“某某和我玩dare游戏，结果我赢
了，她答应给我10块钱，我得找她要”在我看来，这丫头真不是个包子，但是这钱来得
名不正言不顺，她还敢追着别人要，也忒不包子了。
吃晚餐的时候，我们仨观点如下
猪爹“非法收入不予支持，胆敢再犯，没收现有资产”
本妈观点“非法收入，但是可以告诉对方换成credit，事后补偿”（猪爹给了本妈无数
白眼）
肥丫观点“她提议的，输了，我就该收钱”
本妈补充观点“华尔街收钱的和高利贷收钱的就一线之隔，招财猫卖画属于华尔街，
