(1) As an outsider who have never been to China, I often recollect photo
images of China, when Western journalists were allowed in at the time China
started opening its door.
I came to US in August 1984. Taiwan had banned almost everything about China
, going so far as tearing apart pages in Newsweek or Times magazine within
the library of US embassy in Taipei, the one that is open to the Taiwanese

The average price of a condominium unit in Tokyo’s 23 wards in March was 63
.49 million yen—eight times the average annual income of the ordinary
Japanese worker, a government white paper said Tuesday. The result, included
in the government’s white paper on infrastructure improvement in the Tokyo
metropolitan area, indicates it is becoming difficult for ordinary workers
to buy a condo in the Tokyo area.

日定为“尖阁列岛开拓纪念日”，以纪念116年前日本内阁将此列岛划为日本领土的日
子。中国立即表示了抗议。
石垣市的举动可援引自2005年岛根县议会通过“竹岛日”，以纪念日本兼并竹岛100周
年的日子。该岛目前置于韩国的实际控制和管理之下，韩国方面称之为独岛。岛根县的
举动招来了韩国方面的强烈抗议。此次来自中国的抗议不会比韩国温和。为什么这些贫
