Principal Lab Assistant
Center for Genomics
Job descriptions:
1. Performs bench work related to research projects using different genomic
technologies including next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies as
well as real-time PCR system.
2. Conducts experiments using basic molecular biology techniques such as RNA
/DNA isolation, cDNA/cRNA synthesis, library preparation, PCR and qRT-PCR.
3. Conducts basic preliminary QC metrics analysis and visualization using
the vendor-supplied software such as Illumina Genome Studio and Partek
Genomics Suite.
4. Assists with genomics data backup.
5. Prepares reports makes presentations as required by the Center Director;
and publishes papers on research.
6. Prepares invoice on the services and projects completed.
7. Maintain lab supply inventory and order reagents & supplies.
8. Supervises lab technician, residents and students; and instructs and
demonstrates research tests, laboratory procedures, and the use of
laboratory equipment and computers to lab technician, students and residents.
9. Maintains laboratory equipment and instruments in an operating condition,
and contacts outside vendors as needed.
10. Organizes and maintains files for each experiment, supply order and MSDS.
11. Keeps abreast of new techniques and; develops and troubleshoots new
experimental techniques in related projects.
Experience required:
1. Experience on microarrays and NGS such as gene expression profiling, DNA
sequencing and DNA methylation profiling.
2. > 3 years of lab experience in molecular biology techniques and/or
genomics
3. Experience in real-time RT-PCR is a plus.
4. Hands-on experience of RNA, cDNA synthesis, PCR, RT-PCR.
5. Basic computer competency. |
