Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) is 501(c)(3) non-profit
organization in the United States.CAGW has been criticized for its links to
the tobacco industry and to lobbyists including Jack Abramoff.
hroughout its history, CAGW has been accused of fronting lobbying efforts of
corporations to give them the appearance of "grassroots" support.[16] In
part, this is because CAGW has accepted donations from Phillip Morris, the
Olin Foundation, the Bradley Foundation, Microsoft, Merrill Lynch, and Exxon
-Mobil.
According to the St. Petersburg Times in 2006, the Pig Book has been used to
benefit corporate donors, specifically health clubs who donated to CAGW.
The Pig Book listed federal grants to YMCAs who compete with those health
clubs as waste. CAGW's president countered that "The Ys are there because
they qualify as pork. Period."[16]
A Senate Finance Committee investigating ties between CAGW and other non-
profits and Jack Abramoff in 2006 stated in a report that the non-profits: '
probably violated their tax-exempt status "by laundering payments and then
disbursing funds at Mr. Abramoff's direction; taking payments in exchange
for writing newspaper columns or press releases that put Mr. Abramoff's
clients in a favorable light; introducing Mr. Abramoff's clients to
government officials in exchange for payment; and agreeing to act as a front
organization for congressional trips paid for by Mr. Abramoff's clients."'[
17]
In 2007, CAGW supported a bill that would limit damages resulting from
malpractice lawsuits.[18] Many consumer watchdog groups opposed the bill.[19]
In 2009, CAGW has been lobbying against the F136 alternate engine for the F-
35 JSF made by GE/Rolls Royce and there are significant indications that
this effort has been funded by Pratt & Whitney, which manufactures the F135
engine for the JSF, and is in direct competition for orders.[20]

Excellent theatrics; illogical politics.
If, as the film suggests, China leads the world in 2030, then this professor
would be incompetent:
(1) China approved $586 billion in stimulus during the same recession, which
rivals the ARRA when tax cuts are excluded
(2) China enacted healthcare reforms during the same period, which pay a
much higher percentage of costs than the PPACA
(3) China's gov't has state-owned monopolies that span entire industries, a
concept inconceivable to most Americans |

@rpancho well, the govt system will not reform itself. The elites have
created a system that insures that change will not come unless they
benefit from that change. That is why we still drive oil based cars, and no
real innovations that use the natural resources that are capable of supply
the entire planet with enough energy, food and housing for next to nothing.
The regulations stop this from happening if it does not fix into their
controlled box.
It has to come from the people. |

@DrLarsBorgFrolander actually America is being destroyed by reckless
capitalism without the necessary controls. It was Wall Street and the
banking industry that drove America down. For instance, through incredible
loaning practices. This has absolutely nothing to do with "socialism" of
which America still has very little. The lack of clear and enforceable rules
, the weakness of central government are to blame for the mess. But
perhaps it is destiny for all great powers to fail eventually? |

lol what kind of historical context do you expect from these people(teaparty

Little do these folks know that the Communists overthrew the Czars who

movement ignorance is beyond belief!
lol but then again, if they even had an iota of reasoning power, they would
not be demanding things/stuff which would only hurt them in the long run. |

Something failed to be mentioned here is the TRILLIONS spent in wars

can see that same connection with the what is going on now in the States.
How is this huge point not mentioned? |

@rpancho Unfortunately, in a currency crisis, i.e. hyperinflation, the rich
DO get richer, the poor do become poorer and the middle class shrinks. If
the course of the U.S. isn't drastically altered, soon the only
buyers of U.S. treasuries will be the FED, we'll most likely lose reserve
currency status, and barring any truly GROUNDBREAKING innovation, this sad
story could very well play out. |
