道德经和美国宪法, 两股八竿子打不到一块的历史文化流,却殊途同归。

1)很短。

DDJ 1. 道德经 meets the US Constitution Preamble
上一轮道德经读完。 今天从新开始。 道德经不变,但是人的心境不断演变。
第一章
[原文]
道可道也①,非恒道也②。名可名也③,非恒名也。无名④,万物之始也;有名⑤,万
物之母也⑥。故恒无欲也⑦,以观其眇⑧;恒有欲也,以观其所徼⑨。两者同出,异名

宪法和道德经同属于”不点人名“的经典奇书。 与道德经同时的著作多数喜欢name
dropping,人物为主,或为楷模,或为反派。 关尹喜求老子留书的时候,他的问题业
已失传。 我们来替他恢复原问题。 第一个问题:”请史学大拿老子为我们普及升官
之道“。 老子的回答是”道可道非常道“。 关尹喜继续问: ”请史学大拿老子为

[译文] 不推崇有才德的人,导使老百姓不互相争夺;不珍爱难得的财物,导使老百姓
不去偷窃;不显耀足以引起贪心的事物,导使民心不被迷乱。因此,圣人的治理原则是
:排空百姓的心机,填饱百姓的肚腹,减弱百姓的竞争意图,增强百姓的筋骨体魄,经
常使老百姓没有智巧,没有欲望。致使那些有才智的人也不敢妄为造事。圣人按照“无
为”的原则去做,办事顺应自然,那么,天才就不会不太平了。

第三章的无知无欲不敢。 后来道德经多次提”不敢“,“知”/“智”,“欲”,“
难得之货”。 大智若愚,大勇如怯。
“含德之厚,比于赤子”。 即使孔子,也说“诗三百 一言以蔽之 思无邪”。 王羲之
,也是“一郎在东床上坦腹卧,如不闻。” 古人的道教精神风貌率性坦荡。人性
复杂不是性本“善”可以概括的。 “上有所好,下必甚焉”,“虚假积累”, 粉饰太
平,这些都是群体现象自然而然。道家启蒙是古代重要一课,因为他平衡了儒家的简单
道德建筑,若说儒家是古代建筑的风光无限的梁,道家是底下无为务实的基础。道教“

DDJ 5. 天地不仁,不若守其中
第五章

天地不仁,以万物为刍狗①;圣人不仁,以百姓为刍狗。天地之间,其犹橐龠乎②?虚

道德经本身有很强的理性实用主义,偏偏却开辟了古中国的诗歌文化。道家与道教传业
,特别注意发展真性情。 庄子屈原陶渊明李白王羲之谢安葛洪司马迁,都得以选择开
辟自己的道路,或者浪漫,或者诙谐,或者博学,或者理性,或者文采,或者数学,或
者武功,或者史学,或者人情练达, 或者隐居山林。六艺九流,无不出于道。 所以
百家之宗。
道教说“慈”,但是不说仁。 仁是儒教的切口:“天地对万物像父母一样仁,皇帝
对百姓像父母一般仁”。 老子直接说: 天地对万物不仁,圣人对百姓不仁。 因为天
地,统治者假“儿女”太多了,再宣扬“仁”的概念,假儿女们要嫉妒而内斗了。
“仁”是被标榜的一个对几亿的“爱”。 越标榜,越有伪。 有伪,就不内洽。不内
洽,就有内斗。

of writing, they were results of intense bargaining and compromise.
道德经 unlike the US Constitution, did not have an amendment mechanism. But
I'd like to think of 道德经 as a result of at least two people debating and
dialog.

answer certain questions. 2) Certain questions make minefields. Know

questions and adversarial questions 4) Look for signs of religion, be

DDJ 1. 道德经 meets the US Constitution Preamble
上一轮道德经读完。 今天从新开始。 道德经不变,但是人的心境不断演变。
第一章

宪法和道德经同属于”不点人名“的经典奇书。 与道德经同时的著作多数喜欢name
dropping,人物为主,或为楷模,或为反派。 关尹喜求老子留书的时候,他的问题业
已失传。 我们来替他恢复原问题。 第一个问题:”请史学大拿老子为我们普及升官
之道“。 老子的回答是”道可道非常道“。 关尹喜继续问: ”请史学大拿老子为
我们讲王朝名人轶事“。 老子的回答是”名可名非常名“。
道德经贯彻“沉默是金,不提人名”的做法。结果成了列国畅销书籍第一名。演绎2000
年有余。

Tao Te Ching by contrast, seemed to be written by <3 people. However,

[译文] 不推崇有才德的人,导使老百姓不互相争夺;不珍爱难得的财物,导使老百姓
不去偷窃;不显耀足以引起贪心的事物,导使民心不被迷乱。因此,圣人的治理原则是
:排空百姓的心机,填饱百姓的肚腹,减弱百姓的竞争意图,增强百姓的筋骨体魄,经
常使老百姓没有智巧,没有欲望。致使那些有才智的人也不敢妄为造事。圣人按照“无
为”的原则去做,办事顺应自然,那么,天才就不会不太平了。

第三章的无知无欲不敢。 后来道德经多次提”不敢“,“知”/“智”,“欲”,“
难得之货”。 大智若愚,大勇如怯。
“含德之厚,比于赤子”。 即使孔子,也说“诗三百 一言以蔽之 思无邪”。 王羲之
,也是“一郎在东床上坦腹卧,如不闻。” 古人的道教精神风貌率性坦荡。人性
复杂不是性本“善”可以概括的。 “上有所好,下必甚焉”,“虚假积累”, 粉饰太
平,这些都是群体现象自然而然。道家启蒙是古代重要一课,因为他平衡了儒家的简单
道德建筑,若说儒家是古代建筑的风光无限的梁,道家是底下无为务实的基础。道教“
不贵难得之货”,这一点和耶稣砸神庙,有点异曲同工之妙。 道教,基督教,儒教在
我心中经常重合。 你一句我一句,不亦乐乎。耶稣被罗马省长的审判,苏格拉底的审
判都是非常有意思的故事。 我以前就说了,中国古文明不见得很高大上,最大的成绩
就是老子,墨子,孔子,庄子这些了不起的人都得以颐养天年。 中国古代有很强的容
忍尊重自由言论传统。

这段文两次解释“道的起源”. 1)“渊兮!似万物之宗” 2)“吾不知其谁之子”。
估计关尹喜正在问“起源”问题。 很多宗教文字都会说很多神兮鬼兮动物世界。 老
子也忍不住开始写诗。 “渊兮湛兮“,这可能是他的家乡(楚国)诗歌语言。 然而
同时作为严谨的学者,他也忍不住说:”似“,”不知“,”像“。这是老子的诗歌病
和专业学者病。老子这一发不可收拾,成就了中国最独特的诗歌工匠文化。
美国宪法也有诗意的段落。 特别是在Preamble和Bill of Rights。 这一段没有诗意
,倒是有double negative。 嘻嘻,一看像是律师commitee作品。我猜当时立法的人都
是25岁以上,7年以上移民历史。 众议院是立法"junior"部门,宪法特地设门槛低一

DDJ 5. 天地不仁,不若守其中
第五章

天地不仁,以万物为刍狗①;圣人不仁,以百姓为刍狗。天地之间,其犹橐龠乎②?虚

道德经本身有很强的理性实用主义,偏偏却开辟了古中国的诗歌文化。道家与道教传业
,特别注意发展真性情。 庄子屈原陶渊明李白王羲之谢安葛洪司马迁,都得以选择开
辟自己的道路,或者浪漫,或者诙谐,或者博学,或者理性,或者文采,或者数学,或
者武功,或者史学,或者人情练达, 或者隐居山林。六艺九流,无不出于道。 所以
百家之宗。
道教说“慈”,但是不说仁。 仁是儒教的切口:“天地对万物像父母一样仁,皇帝
对百姓像父母一般仁”。 老子直接说: 天地对万物不仁,圣人对百姓不仁。 因为天
地,统治者假“儿女”太多了,再宣扬“仁”的概念,假儿女们要嫉妒而内斗了。
“仁”是被标榜的一个对几亿的“爱”。 越标榜,越有伪。 有伪,就不内洽。不内
洽,就有内斗。

States has been affected by Amendment XIV Section 2, and as to taxes on

of writing, they were results of intense bargaining and compromise.
道德经 unlike the US Constitution, did not have an amendment mechanism. But
I'd like to think of 道德经 as a result of at least two people debating and
dialog.

今天早晨的SCOTUS nomination hearing. My take aways. 1) Even when a judge
are nominated for SCOTUS, they still have to be trained and coached to
answer certain questions. 2) Certain questions make minefields. Know
these questions and learn to avoid them in public and don't ask unfamiliar
people. 3) Know the difference between friendly questions, softball
questions and adversarial questions 4) Look for signs of religion, be
sensitive and respectful, avoid the ancient minefield. Hobby Lobby, Roe vs

我们课近期的焦点是华人。很多华人,即使高等教育Phd,身居重职, 却因为缺美国初
中生学的宪法课,不懂高中生学的各种social aggression/self defense behavior,
以至于吃大亏。 这个“头重脚轻”的现象,基本上只有华人有,非华人感到难以理
解。 与其强求外人理解,不如先把华人该补的课给补上。
比如王先生在BUS的经历,很多华人旁观者都像是无动于衷。 非华人看,可能觉得华人
麻木不仁。 华人却知道: 很多华人压根没有这些”甄别紧急事件“,”应急“,“萍
水相逢,互相照顾“,”见事不好,马上救援“的教育。 即使到了美国,华人依然对
”政府“有很强的“巨婴”依赖恐惧症。 所以我们课就是要让华人意识到:”时过境
迁,刻舟求剑行不通。” 我们先学宪法,再学团队。

不同。 人性复杂不是性本“善”可以概括的。 “上有所好,下必甚焉”,“虚假积累
”, 粉饰太平,这些都是必然的群体现象。道家启蒙是古代领袖的重要一课(汉文帝
,窦太后,谢安,王导,李泌,范蠡,管仲),因为道家平衡儒家的简单道德构设。
若说儒家是古代建筑的风光无限的梁,道家是底下无为务实,并限制集权的基础。“含
德之厚,比于赤子”。 即使孔子,也说“诗三百 一言以蔽之 思无邪”。 王羲之,也
是“一郎在东床上坦腹卧,如不闻。” 古人的道教精神风貌率性坦荡。

第九章 [原文]持而盈之①,不如其已②;揣而锐之③,不可长保④。金玉满堂,莫之

道德经几次说钱,都很负面。 “难得之货”,“金玉满堂,莫之能守;富贵而骄,自
遗其咎”。 战国时代的侠客道,汉初黄老道,东汉末的道教继承老子对财货的态度。
“道商”是中国古代商人传统,如范蠡,吕不韦,马超。善于敛财,更善于散财。 敛
财过度,危机出演。 金玉百害唯一用,“千金散尽还复回”,”复回“流通的工具而
已。 中国古代的金融非常发达,但是道教,金融,政体,很自然的存在分立。 道教这

第十章 [原文] 载营魄抱一①,能无离乎?专气致柔②,能如婴儿乎③?涤除玄鉴④

[译文]精神和形体合一,能不分离吗?聚结精气以致柔和温顺,能像婴儿的无欲状态吗

DDJ 11. 无之以为用, Speak Truth to Power
第十一章 [原文]三十辐①共一毂②,当其无,有车之用③。埏埴以为器④,当其无,
有器之用。凿户牖以为室⑤,当其无,有室之用。故有之以为利,无之以为用⑥。
[译文]三十根辐条汇集到一根毂中的孔洞当中,有了车毂中空的地方,才有车的作用。
揉和陶土做成器皿,有了器具中空的地方,才有器皿的作用。开凿门窗建造房屋,有了
门窗四壁内的空虚部分,才有房屋的作用。所以,“有”给人便利,“无”发挥了它的
作用。

第一章 系统科学
道可道(可以语言交流的道),
非常道(非永恒之道);
名可名(可以明确定义的名),
非常名(非永恒之名)。
无名天地之始(“无名”为天地启始状态),
有名万物之母(“有名”为理解万物之源泉)。
故常无,欲以观其妙(因此,往往实验设置“无”以求观察其奥妙),
常有,欲以观其徼(而往往实验设置“有”以求观察其细微)。
两者同出异名(无-有,这两种设置,有共同背景,但是被不同冠名),
同谓玄之又玄(这就是玄之又玄)。
众妙之门(观察一切奥妙的法门)。
注释:学习系统科学,可以理解为什么老子的《道德经》是华夏所有学术,包括科学,
艺术,经济学的源泉。 复杂系统的每一个组成个体,都经过,“有”-“无”的状态
。其作者老子,身为周朝历史学家,开篇就提出历史方法论。 “有”-“无”,实验
对照,才能检验历史因果的奥妙。
