However, if your kids are interested in law, hunter is much better. Over 10
students got offers from Yale this year.
Stuy is dominated by Asian, over 60% now. It is good if your kids like math
and enginneering.
Stuy is a very big school. Your kid may not get attention from school
counsellor.
Above is my nephew's experience. He went to Hunter for middle school and
will be a senior at Stuy this fall. |

发帖数: 1558 | 5 我觉得要因材施教，不能一定说学数理化没有人文的好。Google创始人，Bill Gates,
能源部长都是理工出生。关键是不能偏科太严重，不能学了一个方向，把其他的给扔了
。Stuy的女生喜欢liberal arts因为那里数学要求低。难道你觉得数学不重要？现在总
统竞选都要quant analysts.如果一个quant analysts有很好的communcation/
leadership skills,得到promotion的机会很大。
我外甥就是数学好，要他写文章就很痛苦。他初中是hunter,也是top的学生。高中要去
stuy的时候，hunter的校长极力挽留，答应以后给写很好的推荐信。
还好他选了stuy，今年hunter, 20%的人申请了Yale的early，结果除了一个人拿到
offer,其他全部defer.我外甥申请Yale的regular,2星期就受到Yale的offer,说是Yale
最想要的学生，所以最早给了offer.

story.
How old is he? if he is still younger than 15, then he can go to another high
school for a year (9th grade), and try to get into Stuy in 10th Grade.
But if not, then Stuy/Bronx Science/Brooklyn Tech are out.
There are a few other good schools in NYC:
Townsend Harris, Midwood are two of them.
As for NJ, there are some good schools in Bergen County, such as Fort Lee High
School, Tenafly High School and Leonia High |

该更旺.GN贵是不是房子要比BAYSIDE好?我比较过LN和JERICO495南的那一块,同样价格
下,经纪带看的房子JERICO的明显比LN好.
至于学区,真不能只看BAYSIDE HIGH,市内的都得考STUY,BRONX差不多,TECH稍差一点,还
有TOWNSEN.考虑到周边好区有不少LEGACY,老中的孩子还是在STUY呆着比较好. |

sharing with hunter). hardest to get in, highest sat average (2100 for 900
students pre grade!), tons of advanced classes in both stem and humanities.

朋友去參加女兒高中畢業典禮的時候，
場子裡烏泱烏泱，大半的亞洲人，
翻開他們的year book，
烏泱烏泱的亞洲娃。
這些年越來越多，亞裔娃娃考試讀書真是沒的說的，
這實在是千年來科舉制度和儒家文化的傳承。
我覺得別的都罷了，亞裔起名字能個性一點麼？
比如就用中文的拼音，米國人總能慢慢習慣。
不然一眼望去，成堆成堆的 Jennifer Chen, Vivian Wang，James Li。。。
原本西方人以姓區分身份，中國人以名區分身份，
這下好了，難以區分的名和難以區分的姓放在一起，
沒個性啊。。。。唉。 |

也没指望孩子将来怎么着，不然也不会放养一直在学区内的小学中学混了。。
能考上自己又愿意上就上呗，吃苦竞争都是他自己选的，将来怎么样是他自己的造化，
我给不了他任何的保证，能管的就是吃饱穿暖和精神支持。。。
那个，名校咱都指大学吧？高中，像stuy也有好多上不了名校，竞争太激烈了，上
stony brook,cuny的都有，挺残酷的，也没有什么不好的，以后的一生长着呢。。 |
