w****1 发帖数: 4931 | 1 did interval this morning, 6x800, 2/2 breathing, 6:10-5:45 pace, 400m
recovery, 9 mi total. What I found was that "butt-kicking" does not work. It
actually slows me down. The reason is that it slows down my leg turnover,
and as I drove my legs with 2/2 breathing, my breathing also slowed down. In
running, to go faster, you just have to breathe faster. There is no
shortcut. When I started to focus on paw-back and breathe faster, my pace
dipped under 5:50, which felt good.

| w*******e 发帖数: 2651 | 3 For fast pace running like 6 or under, butt-kicking might
not be the choice. To my understanding, butt-kicking mainly
helps push back the strike point, but it should help increase
the stride too. So for the same cadence, increasing stride should
help increase the speed.

turnover,
加大步副, 才能感觉舒服点, 不然跑两下就不行了。。。

| w****1 发帖数: 4931 | 5 No, outdoors on the trail. 5:50 is my 5K pace, still a very much controlled
speed. 5:00 would be sprinting for
me. I would need to raise my knees high and have fast leg turnover at the
same time, which is difficult to last
long.

| b***i 发帖数: 10018 | 6 I found that during strides, i would focus more on high knees than kicking
butts. Maybe my hip flexors are not flexible enough to kick high backwards.

| w****1 发帖数: 4931 | 8 butt kicking is somewhat relaxing which is why I suspected that it makes
running efficient. But so far my
experience indicates that it does not. It is the paw back that makes running
efficient.

| w********6 发帖数: 12977 | 9 Exactly, paw back is associated with high cadence, it is much more
efficient than low-cadence/butt-kicking stride. Women seem to understand
and master it very naturally.
