发帖数: 1280 | 40 你听说过搞well around但不搞academics的吗? 说藤校侧重well-around只是说藤校不
以academics为唯一标准，但academics始终是well around的中最重要和基本的一个标
准。
而且藤校看well round不是简单地数你搞了几项，而是要看你有几项能搞得突出，能搞
得有多突出。Academics方面，申请者的SAT/ACT,GPA都差别不大的，这个时候招生的就
会看你相关的其他成绩和资料。一个好的AMC 12或AIME成绩能让你显得突出。
另外我说的是AMC 12/AIME，不是USAMO/MOSP/IMO。前者相对好搞容易出成绩，适合
well-around的学生。而USAMO/MOSP/IMO要花大量时间还不一定有成绩。对以传统藤校
为目标的学生，不如把时间花在其他更容易出成绩的项目。

在本版潜水多年，受益良多。
但是一直都没有对版风版务有所贡献。
整个MITBBS, 只有两个版最nice---宝宝版和本版。
毫不夸张的讲，我们自己带孩子，所有的育儿知识来自宝宝版
绿卡自己弄，所有的知识来自本版。
早就有这个想法，有朝一日我自己的绿卡批了，也来汇报一下自己的心路历程，希望对
还在奋斗和准备奋斗的战友有所帮助。
先简单说说背景
07年12月J1来美。是名符其实的千老。
有机合成专业，国内排名靠后985学校土博。
文章24 （一作7，没有JACS，靠几篇CC吹牛， 剩下的是挂名），citation 284, 会议
abstract 17。审稿70 for 17个杂志。无媒体报道，无奖项，无 membership.
到美国第一站（其实也是现在的，就没有挪过窝，等会再检讨）排名靠后的州立大

我的情况有点不一样，想请教一下大家。
现在用j1 academic training 在公司工作，当前的academic training 今年12月过期
。刚刚renew，新的academic training 是明年1月初开始.
如果马上申请豁免，很有可能在下个academic training 生效前就拿到豁免啦。如果明
年一月后继续用新的academic training 工作，不知道这个会不会出现传说中豁免失效
的问题？ |

2001 - 7月本科毕业，8月到美国，第一学期全A,不过上课听懂一半不到。
2002 - 上半年无聊之中经常健身；下半年，野心太大，选了一些特别难的课程，焦头
烂额。
2003 - 定下实验室。选简单课混日子。期间找了个老婆结婚。
2004 - 没啥压力，又开始狂健身，过了qualify; 联络了一个行业前3大公司的朋友，

2005 - RA 之余，继续到公司挣外快。初步结果不错，公司要赞助博士论文。
2006 - 论文期间了一家大公司实习。再次由于野心太大，另开炉灶，博士论文做的很
辛苦。其间有第一个孩子。
2007 - 博士论文答辩，完毕之后立即在新公司上班，也是一行业前3的公司，起薪6位
数。5月博士正式毕业。
2008 - 新车，EB1绿卡，发表了很多工作论文，升职, 买房。

我要替中国辩护，并不是因为我是一个中国人，而是因为我知道中国就和这世界上绝大
数的国家一样，虽然有很多丑陋的现象，但是他们是受害者。就
象这个犯罪集团里很多的人一样，他们来自各种种族，他们可能充当了工具，但他们不
是制造这一切，谋划这一切的人。虽然经常会暴露中国产品出现问题。但要知道中国是
世界工厂，他们只是打工者，他们只是按照各种雇主提供的配方来生产，他们并不知道

我看了一下publication 970, 感觉应该可以把Summer School的花费包括在里面啊，不
知道您说的必须反应在1098T里面的花费，出处是哪里呢？

这个最起码也要是个全国性的奖项 （Nationwide），否则不足以显示Internationally
outstanding。中国的，美国的都行。
2. Membership in associations in the academic field that require

这个membership可不一般，视为fellow可能更为恰当。因此，那些无需严格评选，花钱
就可买到的membership一概不要用，否则辫子一大条。
