Re forgiveness, there seems to be 2 social attitudes:
1. "Hate the sin, love the sinner."
Corruption itself is not forgivable, but leniency should be shown to those
caught doing it, especially if nobody is directly hurt and the person reforms.
2. "Hate the sinner, love the sin"
On one hand people want to punish the sinners as severe as possible,
preferably with death penalty. On the other hand they don't have much moral
aversion of behaving in the same way, when given the chance.

God being both just and merciful, neither of these qualities can triumph ove
